had about a dozen pmags break last week on a cold morning when being dropped free from a gun on to concrete (two were on hard packed ground that is as hard as concrete)...(feed lips snapping off)
not sure of what generation they are...(is there an easy way to tell?) was this a big problem in the past (or currently) update...most likely chemical or solvent exposure with cold weather not helping.. update II: unknown cause I do not want anyone to take this as a slight against what I still believe to be a great product..... |

I was always curious if that could happen to them in the extreme cold. Makes sense |

I remember some guys in AK doing some tests in extreme cold when they first came out. As I recall they did fine. Were the mags loaded? What was the temperature? I'd email Magpul about it. thats what I thought I just exchanged them out for metal mags and sent them on their way |

I wouldnt have a clue as I would think only a dumbass would drop a dozen of them to find out if they would all do that. Keep up your interesting scientific study. MORE THEN ONE PERSON AT A TRAINING FACILITY OF THE CORSE OF ABOUT 2-3 HOURS but thanks for calling me a dumbass

I am curious to know the born on date on them. It should have a little clock dial with the year and month that they were made. Forgot if it is on the left or right side of the mag. this is what I wanted to know because these might be years old...gen 1 mags |

I was one of them... Dropped them on pavement at -30 below and nothing happened to them... Gen 1 and Rev M windowed... I did have one split down the back but I threw it down on the pavement as hard as I could loaded... Ammo went everywhere!

I left one outside, fully loaded an sub -40F temps I then proceeded to drop it on to concrete at varying angles to see what would happen It took multiple drops at a heights of about 6 feet for me to get one to break. The fact that you broke a dozen
And FWIW, despite me being entirely upfront about how it broke, Magpul offered to replace it without issue I did not break a single one....I just work here... Reading who is it for...Mericans |
