I am periodically receiving the error "Explorer has caused an error in Kernel32.dll. explorer will now close..."
Why?
Restarting the computer doesn't have it go away and when I close the error box, sometimes everything is fine, sometimes explorer closes, and sometimes the system is locked up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Need more info...

What OS are you running? Are you up to date on all your secruity patches, service packs & critical updates?
What anti-virus program are you running? Is it up to date?
Do you run pop-up blocker, spy-ware, etc. software? Are they up to date?
What activities are you performing on your computer when this error occurs?

The system has, err, Windows ME
I'm looking for new anti virus, any suggestions?
Yes I have google pop up blocker and run spyware (just found out about that) and the error message usually pops when I close IE Explorer or when I come back to my computer and it has been doing nothing.
Thanks!

Sometimes running the windows updates will fix that if there is an IE update included, it replaces the files that are corrupt. Or you can run the system repair option .... best thing to do is upgrade to XP! ME was the worst OS MS ever released .... IMHO

Ditto ... and get an AV program installed ASAP.
