Does anyone have experience with these. I have wanted an ar10 for a long time. The price is right. Is the dpms gen2 worth the extra cost over the psa. I already have an fal, vepr, saiga and ptr in 308 so I don't need it but do want.

The model going for $699 right now is tempting

I bought the receivers a couple years back, haven't done anything with them. I know the early ones were problematic, or at least picky. The ar-10 forum here has your answers.

Also , tag for info.

Has the industry tried to come up with a common standard yet for parts or is everyone still doing their own thing?  I would like an AR10 but being dependent on one specific company for any parts is not appealing.

Buy an Armalite Def10 and don't look back. You won't be sorry.

Had a Armalite 16" just after the AWB sunset. Was a excellent rifle but, took the old style M14'ish mags. Sold it to try a FAL and never went back.

This is what I did when I wanted a .308 AR. One of the best guns I've ever owned.

I have one, like it so far...I did swap out the PST barrel with an 18" Rainier SS match version, and currently awaiting a replacement trigger.

No complaints here. Mine has been a lot of fun to shoot.

What is your goal?  308 blaster?  SAPR?

I used a PSA AR10 complete lower and stripped upper as the base for a build a few years ago; that simplified a lot of compatibility issues from the start.  AIM Surplus Nib BCG, SSA trigger, Midwest industries free float rail (make sure you get the right height), random adjustable gas block, suppressor QD, PA illuminated reticle scope, bipod, and a nice Mega 18" barrel.  All together it was right at $1600 for a glassed SAPR that I can shoot 1 MOA with match ammo.  Someone with actual skill at precision shooting could really do something with it.

What specific proprietary parts are you worried about breaking that will sideline the gun?  The barrels are all the same.  Bolt carriers are either the common DPMS standard which a lot of companies make, or something else.  Upper-Lower receiver fit is different between some manufacturers, but those don't break.  The one I built doesn't have anything in it that relies on one specific company to replace.  You have to do some research before you start buying parts, but you can build an AR10 without being at the mercy of any one company for spare parts.

Yes, some companies put a bunch of proprietary junk in their AR10s.  Just don't buy theirs'.  The old, "I can't buy an AR10 because no one will standardize" excuse doesn't hold water.

They got all the kinks worked out in their Gen2 AR10s. I've been on the fence, but after hunting with a friend's SR25 the AR10 platform is just too heavy for me to use for stalk hunting.

do it

beware that they are selling gen 1 stuff too just so you don't mix your parts up

PA10 should be considered a 'kit' gun, meaning you may have some troubleshooting/tuning.  May need an adjustable gas block to get it right.

do PSA ar-10 receivers take DPMS parts?...if you are going to build one?

Like mine. Cycles a little fast with form 1 suppressor. I've got a new gas block I haven't put on it. Had no issues so far.

I want one, but it's nowhere in the budget. Maybe before the end of Trump's term...

Since I can't afford an OBR.

I have a few ar-10 type rifles.1 is dpms gen 1 pattern, the other is the new g2 dpms,24 inch bull barrel. I really like the g2,it's been 100% reliable for almost 1000 rounds.the aftermarket just hasn't caught up yet.but in time it will.it's the one nice thing about the gen 1 guns, alot of parts.

I got a good buy in mine. A guy over the hill bought 3 and decided to sell 2 after his sons decided they didn't want 308s. It was finicky completely stock so I got a BCG from Midway and the orange buffer spring. I can't remember the brand on the BCG but it was on the compatibility list. Runs like a raped ape.
