Why do I have a sudden strong desire for one?  Matching pistol too?  Please talk me in or out of this caliber.

I have been seeing it for around $30 for 50 rounds..Pretty frequently.

I really want one, but I think it is because I watch SG1 too much.

I had PS90 SBR... the ammo killed this gun.
Sold it and never looked back.

I consider both of them to be like a Desert Eagle .50.

They're awesome to shoot when someone else owns them.

FN 5.7 shoots like a freaking laser, and the rifle is fun if you SBR it.

I've always thought they were cool but l'll never own one. I bet they would sell a shit ton if it was in 9mm. That would make for an awesome SBR.

PSA Just had FN ammo for $19.99/50.  That makes a case $400.  What's M855 going for?

PS90 - YES! theyre fun, ammo isnt that bad, it's the most ergonomic gun i've ever shot, and has like no recoil. the caliber kinda sucks, but it's a "fun" gun, and mag dumps rule. also, you can reload for it, with relative ease, despite what many would have you believe.

FiveseveN pistol? - NO! there is nothing worth writing home about with that pistol.
3/23/2015 11:14:25 PM EDT
[#19]
I've got one (and a Five Seven). It's a tack driver and EXTREMELY fast transitioning between targets and doing double/triple taps. SS198 is pretty decent ammo too, especially out of the Five Seven

Neat to have the pair, but they're just range toys. I'm planning on SBRing the PS90 as soon as I get the funds.

I voted yes, but have to put on the following conditions: Only if you reload (from what I've ready, you can use .223 projectiles), and if you SBR it.

this may be the only centerfire gun in history where I'd actually prefer that it came in 22LR.    5.7x28 is just meh on every level.

Here's my question:

What if you got a virgin PS90 receiver, which had never been assembled into a rifle, and then assembled it but left off the buttplate?
The action is bullpup, and thus requires all the real-estate back behind the grip, the magazine goes almost all the way to your cheek, so it has to be that long.

I'm envisioning a pistol variant that's shaped fundamentally the same way, just without any contour or rubber on the butt, and perhaps slightly shorter.

Might have to do something about the front grip as well, although that might be kosher since it's actually the trigger guard.

Would that give you a legal P90 pistol, like an AR pistol?

Why not?

You know I bought the Red Jacket one but have never used it and probably never will. I don't even own a 10/22.

I think it was freaking ARFCOM that got me into that thing (HTA kit) claiming it was better than the RJ, but I have no personal experience with the RJ.  The HTA is a quality kit, but the top optic rail seems a tad off to me - mine slightly narrow and maybe not 100% square with bore?  I never bothered to figure it out, but regardless you should pick up a base 10/22 for <$250 and build that sucker up!

I used a stainless 10/22 because I prefer stainless (especially in blowback actions), and the HTA kit covers pretty much all the bright parts (assuming you use the dorky faux-pressor of course).

I built one this week and made it a 17 HM2, I had to modify the oversized charging handle but other than that it was a breeze. It gives me a little more oomph than a .22.

The hightower was a quality kit though, it doesn't feel junky.

I've been tempted similarly several times and have resisted it so far -- to date, I have allowed my desire for ammo/mag consolidation to overwhelm the cool-factor itch.

Only time will tell if that lasts...

I have both a PS90 and a five seven pistol...For some reason, I've never shot the pistol.  I have however shot the PS90 and that is one hell of a fun gun although ammo is on the pricey side..

I go back and forth between just selling both of them and any remaining ammo I have, and sending the PS90 out to be SBR'd.

Both were bought at a period of time in my life when I was in a huge gun buying phase.  Today Im not sure I'd go that route, and instead would either not spend the money at all, or would use it for something else (training, ammo, glass etc).

they're tarded. only reason to tolerate the round is for the awesome PS90.
the uppers are close enough to the same price as a PS90 and i hear so many complaints about them that I question why anyone would get it. The only thing they seem to accomplish is making an AR15 more expensive to shoot. you don't benefit from the compact size of the PS90, the ammo is more expensive, and it costs more than .223 to shoot. the ONLY reason to shoot 5.7 is to be the owner of a PS90, in every other firearm, it just isn't worth the hassle.

Had one. Was sweet. Took to the range once then eventually sold it.

Just couldn't get over it costing $40 to fill the magazine at the time. It wasn't THAT fun. I'd love one in a cheaper caliber. Or even just a 10/22 dressed up like a PS90... would feel the same to shoot as a real one.

it wouldn't be so much about recipes, as much as how to use a progressive press for it, which many claim is impossible . I'm planning on doing it when I finish moving.
