When I click a PDF link it freezes mt computer, when I hit "save target as" it downloads it with no problem.
Any idea why, it just started after I upgraded to 7 reader

two things:

one: Adobe is a resource hog both for system resources and bandwidth while it's loading a document. Best practice is to "right click save as" if your going to be reading .pdf's from the Internet. Imagine you want to look at a 1mb .pdf on the web, when you try and open it across the wire your system has to cache all that data before you can start clicking around in the document, response time is faster if the file is on your local machine.

two: upgrade to the latest version of Adobe (ver 8) that may help a little and there are also some recent vulnerabilities that have been fixed in version 8.

I agree with navvet.

How much memory do you have in your computer? Getting as much in there as it will hold is always a good idea, and with sufficient memory, you might still be able to run other apps while a pdf page is loading.

Mine does it only with the larger pdf files, like the catalogues on BHOPhotovideo.com.

get Foxit,  problem solved.

PDFs, at least when viewed with Adobe, are one of the most bug filled, locked up POS files I have ever encountered.
