I use turtle beach, wired. All my wireless ones have sucked. To each his own though.

Get whatever headset you like that sounds the best and pick up an antlion mod mic.

I'm using audio technica AD700's with that modmic, works good.

I'd say this, or just buy a Blue Snowball mic.

That's kinda what I was wanting to do.  I've got my Astro headsets I use for XBox, but honestly I'm not the hugest fan of them.  So I was gonna buy a nice audiophile headset and some kind of clip on mic for PC.  This here may be the ticket.

Thanks dudes.

Yeah digital audio sucks for competitive PC games like CS:GO. Need to hear them footsteps.

Was using Logitech G35 headset, 7.1 surround.  I thought they were pretty good.

I just got a set of Audio Technica AD700s recently along with the Antlion ModMic.  Gotta say, I can hear so much more now.  I play Rainbow Six Siege and I can pretty much tell you where you are at damn near any point during the game.  Made a HUGE difference.  Plugged into my onboard surround sound: Realtek ALC1150 8 channel and It's beast mode!

Modmic like the others have said.  A good set of audiophile headphones plus a separate mic will always sound better than an all-in-one solution.

Setsey headset

I have a set of these, I was a little nervous but there were a lot of great reviews so I rolled the dice. These are very nice, comfortable headsets, not real crazy about the boom mic but everyone I game with has complimented me on the quality of the sound. The sound profile is excellent with surround sound, mutable mic, Volume control and mute. I was using a wireless set up until I was having problems with the battery life while using Vent/TeamSpeak and using the game. I could use one or the other but when running both the headset would die and was iffy when plugged, so I got a wired headset and I am very happy.
