Bought the original "Deer Hunter" back in 1995(?)..something reminded me of it today and now I'm kinda curious if the hive plays these games?  Recommendations for PC?

Hahha, I played a lot of hardcore flight simulators....

And the most I had was late at night after a flight, with a couples of squadron friends, hunting big bucks in Utah or Oregon in deer hunter 2005 !

I gave Cabela's Dangerous Game 2009 a whirl.

The problem with those games (just like their cousins, the first person shooter action games) is that the "worlds" are too small.

Like, you can walk from one end of a landscape to the other end in two minutes, and bounce off the invisible "wall."

Not the case of the dh 2005. You'd have to walk like 45min to get across the map

It seems so, but my guess it's that it only needs it because its a game you pay monthly to play.. So they just ensure your login is validated to play for the time being.

I don't think you would need big data transfers for this. Usually you can go offline after the login is made once in these kind of systems.

I could be wrong though. Downloading tonight, trying tomorrow. Will let you know
