I am not a big scope guy, but picked up a decent Burris recently and damn was I surprised at how good the glass was. I was very impressed with the clarity, etc. I will probably go that direction next time as well. this is the one: http://www.swfa.com/pc-14241-2733-burris-35-10x50-fullfield-tac-30-tactical-30mm-rifle-scope.aspx |

In my experience, at 500 plus yards, magnification won't be all that important as the higher you turn it, the worse the mirage becomes. Buy the best glass you can afford, don't worry so much about buying a higher magnification scope and buy a good brand like Nikon, Leupold or the Bushnell. |

see if anyone you know has the scopes you're interested in. Offer to pay for (or supply) ammo so you can try them out; obviously, this won't be on your gun, but it will let you try the reticules and see the clarity, etc etc. I did get to see a Shepard scope this weekend. Was very clear . I had the "wants" for one a while back but after looking thru it , I don't see much advantage over my Burris other than the one-shot zero deal. |
