Need help with recommendations for a low cost offset router table.

I have a Skill router table right now but it's not capable of the offset feature for use a jointer which is what I'm needing the offset feature for.

Figure I can save a little money having this perform dual functions instead of having a dedicated jointer plus router table.

While I'm asking, if anyone has recommendations for a reasonably priced planner I'd appreciate help with this also.

Price is a low as I can get with decent performance.

I dont use a jointer, get a piece of mdf 12" wide and glue on a piece of AL.

Use a spiral bit to joint up to 3"

you can use a 8' piece as well as a smaller 4' piece for small stuff. I generally bolt it on my table saw or work bench and throw stock on top and clamp, quick pass and all done.

AFA a planer, I have a delta 13" since 2001, amazing planner. with new blades it will leave a finish as good as any scraper.

If you need a bigger planner than this, use a router/jig. I did a 4' table with a router that is flat as any factory finish

Offset fence on a router is not a replacement for a jointer. It will only accommodate smaller pieces.

Fwiw I have an Incra wonder fence. Not cheap but does so much with absolute precision.

Have you thought about just a fence for your current table? A benchdog offset came with my router table ( extension wing).and has jointing capabilities for around $100 I think.

I no it's not a replacement but funds are a consideration.

No, haven't thought about a fence replacement. Didn't realize I could replace just the fence.
My router table is just a small skill with a plastic fence which sucks.

I'm learning as I go on this.

I hear ya man, we all start somewhere. I'd advise to buy the best you can afford - and try to buy tools that will grow with you if you believe woodworking is something you plan to keep doing. Something cheap today might be worthless down the road when your skills and budget increase.

With that in mind, do you already own a table saw? If so i'd build a cheap jointing jig.

you lay a piece of mdf on top of another piece of wood, clamp and run a router down it.

Yea, I have a Skill table saw and Skill Miter saw.

Got them during the Lowes/ H.D. Black Friday sales over the last couple of years.
Same with the router table and router.
