Well, I was riding my horse in the Ft. Worth Stock Yards yesterday to get him used to the noises and sounds (lots of children yelling and screaming, cars, etc) and then followed the Long Horn Heard up the street after they went through and one of the hispanic guys who's job it is to move the cones after the heard has gone through asked me if I was an officer, I answered no, and said that they guy to my left front was. He starts yelling that I have a gun and telling EVERYONE that I have a gun. I look down and apparently my shirt had come up over my pistol when my horse was freaking out a little bit. It was a shirt that was a bit shorter than I normally wear due to laundry day etc. So, the cop says I should go over and dismount while he looks at my CHL. He asked what I carried and I said a Kimber 1911 Tactical Pro II and he asked to see it, commented on it being a nice high dollar gun. I told him what I was doing with my horse and how it must have come out and he understood and said no worries and gave it back. ;) He said I need to be careful since some of the tourist didn't know we had a "Good ol' boy state where we can carry pistols." He requested that I leave it in my truck while I was riding him out there so I didn't freak out some other guy even though he had no problem with it. He was very polite and understood what happened. Gotta love Texas and especially Ft. Worth with their mounted police. :D Can't stand people who freak out if they see a gun though. Wonder what that little POS would have done if I had my 44 Mag lever action in a saddle holster. Anyways, that's my oops story. :D |
LOL, I LOVE that idea. It apparently was that way most of the street and it didn't seem to phase anyone but this guy. That being said, I don't normally have that problem. He did well for the most part but got a little spooked when I tried to make him go down a street with buildings on both sides and hundreds of kids screaming and yelling on either side of the street, but he needs to learn and is doing well so far. :) |
