Yeah I'm a little confused as well. Do you not have assigned parking?
My sister and brother in law had similar issues when they lived in a condo that backed up next to an apartment complex filled with assholes. The apartment dwellers would park in the condo building's lot, the condo association would tow their asses and they'd bitch.

No, it's not assigned parking. You can park wherever you want, but apparently you can only have two cars, despite the fact that there are far more open spaces than there are residents. Their shitty condo association, their shitty rules, I know. Quoted:

Speaking of HOAs
I haven't seen the old buzzard down the street is a while. Must be that 10 gallons of highway yellow someone dumped in a huge puddle on his lawn when I was at sea. Damned kids! Why I'll bet you it's the same damned kids that stole a case of Coke and 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies out of the back of my truck two days after I got back home. |

Apparently they now have a 2 car limit per condo which my brother wasn't aware of when he bought the condo. That would be understandable if there was a serious parking issue, however there are loads of open spaces. Quoted:

You can't park in front of your own condo? Why would you move there? You need to clarify please. Their condo complex, their rules.
Don't like it? Join the board and try to change it, or move. You don't own the spaces. The board does. You just have parking privileges which are subject to change. As long as the proper procedures were followed as outlined in their by-laws, which you no doubt agreed to when you moved in, then you have no recourse. Buy a house and stop complaining. |

6 condos, 17 spaces in front of them. There's always 6 empty spaces. Quoted:

Sadly, sounds like you might have to start buddy'ing up to the board members.
Do you have a copy of the bylaws? Ask to be put on the agenda at the next meeting. If there are 5 extra spaces (any used by maintenance, etc?) then find out if you can be allowed to use one during your time there. |

Move in where there is an HOA.............................................no pity. |

HOAs suck and condo HOAs are nothing but busybodies who can't mind their own business.
A friend bought a condo. He had to deal with complaints about an American flag in the window, plants in the windows, chairs on his patio, owning a motorcycle (was told it drove down property values), and vacuuming. Neighbors kept filing complaints because they could hear his vacuum during the day.
I lived in a house that was part of a HOA in California. The homeowner was fined because he replaced the garage door (on his own darn house) because he didn't get permission to change the color......the old door was light brown, the new door was dark brown. He also received warning letters every time a car was left in the driveway overnight. HOAs suck. |

Fuck HOAs and the board members who have nothing else to do other than fuck with peaceful homeowners. Last place I lived, all the houses in HOAs weren't recovering their value like normal houses because no one wanted to live there. don't like HOAs, dont live there. that simple, really. no one is forcing you to |

And still, fuck the bureaucrats in NYC who think they can ban large sodas and 8 rd magazines. It's sorta like that. Fuck HOAs. ETA - Don't you live in CT? I hope you don't complain about their gun laws, don't like it, don't live there.

Now that I am not a vendor to HOAs, let me say that in my years of experience with them, that they run the gamut from decent groups of people serving their community to groups of adolescent minded busy bodies that most likely are making up for the fact that they lost the junior high student council election. I think we know where you ended up. Sorry about that.

| I have little of value to add. Why anyone would make a conscious choice to live under a Homeowner's Association is beyond my ability to understand. I always assumed these things were comprised of lib's who prefer to live under as many layers of bureaucracy as possible, but then I read about members here who live under (and sometimes defend) HOA's. To each his own I guess. |

Yes. My brother wasn't aware of it, probably should have been. Mistakes were made. You'd think that they would be able to make an amendment, especially when you consider that there are plenty of empty parking spaces. There are no designated parking spots. I asked a neighbor if I could park in front of her unit and she said she didn't mind at all, since she only has one car. Apparently my car would still get towed because nobody in her condo owns it. I know the HOA busybodies are noting where I'm parking and would be eager to get me towed. Quoted:

When they tow your car have your neighbor call them and threaten legal suit if your car is not returned tow fees paid for + lost work time. If you aren't reimbursed be sure to put a lien against their property and have a lawyer send them a letter with a copy of the registration with her name on it. Fuck HOAs. |
