Somebody tell me why a dog eats grass? I know they [i]think[/i] it will calm their upset stomach but, the always puke it up later. Maybe they use to induce [puke]?

It could be that the dog is not getting needed vitamins and minerals and this is nature's way of trying to fill the need. I believe there are supplements or changes to the diet that may help. Check w/vet.

Because they know it makes you crazy?

Makes them puke. Thus calming their stomach.

I think dogs can puke at will(wolves feeding/weening young do it all the time) so I don't think it is to help them upchuck. I could be wrong. I always let my dogs do it. They never seem to have any side effects so I just ignored it. I had a male Springer that when I'd take him hunting would go bonkers over field mice, moles etc. Ate them right there. He would get so "birdie" over a mouse you'd think he found a dozen ringnecks in one spot! Never got sick from that either. Sorry to hijack the thread. It just got me to missing my buddy!

Why does a dog lick it's balls. Because they're there.

same reason those skinny bitches stick their finger down their throats.[puke] Instincts

Perhaps they heard someone talking about some really good grass they had at a party. Now they're on a quest to find this special weed. [:D]

You answered yourself. Dogs (and cats) eat grass to get something out of their stomach that is not agreeing with them. (Almost everything seems to disagree with cat tummies.) Scott

Are you sure it's a dog? It could be a goat or a pig. Get the "See-N-Say" out and match-it up with the sound it makes.

That is the other thing. When they do not eat enough to puke, it is to get vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients..... Scott

Are you sure it's a dog? You'd better cut it open and count the stomachs. Ruminate on that for a while. [:P]

Other than it makes them puke to get excess acid out of their stomachso they feel better, They my belive it will camo their poop so it is harder to see and easier for you to step in.

They don't have opposable thumbs so they can't roll a joint.

A cow has 7(?) stomachs, and eats grass, I get it. Do I win something?

Oh, so close! Cows (like other ruminants [hence the pun]) actually have 4 stomachs. So you just barely missed the prize. On the bright side, we won't have to hassle with the Form 4 to get your prize to you. [:)]
