Done. My challenge meters are all logged, and it was a good month. Rowing duration rose consistently, and the pace kept getting whittled down. A couple pounds came off. My current plan is to keep on this linear progression till something cracks or someone convinces me I'm being dumb. Final row was 22 minutes with a 2:35.5 pace goal, for 4247 meters. Breaking a sweat but can carry on a conversation. One month to go, literally. I leave for Vegas on May 15. |

on the one hand there's [the media] and on the other hand there's the left wing progressives, and you can't really put them in the same camp that easily - JBP
Well, hopefully we will be putting them 'in the same camp' - Michael Malice

The challenge is over, but I still have my mid-May goal to keep me motivated. Weight is still coming off, even as I build some muscle. I had a doctor's appointment last week. My blood pressure is down 20 points. Right there is a massive win! Took a couple days off, because bodies need a break now and then, but I'm still rowing. Right around a 2:30 pace now, nothing special, but for me focusing on duration rather than pace seems to be working. |

I got the email update earlier. I'll hit it for 10-15 minutes in the AM after I wake up starting in Jan. My goal for the new year is to row in the evenings on days that I don't run. Keep an eye out for Chris S to put up some bottom of the pack numbers in January! ![]() |

Yyyyeeeessssss! I am about to wrap up the 2024 pushup challenge, and that motivated me to do an asinine amount of pushups I wouldn't have done otherwise. I just got a concept 2 rower in the Mail today and came looking for a thread. Rowing is really new to me. This should be good. |

That is hauling ass for your first time. Definitely get the app communicating your PM5 and heart rate monitor. It’s nice to have all of that data to chart your progress. |

CrustyKayak: "I only rowed 50 miles uphill today. I am unworthy but will try my best." Wow, super entry point, seriously. Mrs. Patootey has signed up, and she will not be rowing like that. i am absolutely thrilled she has engaged. Rowing is completely new to her, and her sports experience consists of rock climbing and HS marching band. Her meters will be modest (63yo) and I couldn't care less. Fitness is a process, and her being in the seat working at it means the world to me. |

First one of the year is in. My focus is duration rather than pace -- I look to get my body warmed up and heart rate elevated, and suck out the aerobic benefit that way without intense effort. I open things up a bit maybe once a week, because it feels good, but generally try to stay way, way under the red line. Now it's time to get ready for the holiday dinner. Ham, red potatoes with parsley, broccoli, and home-canned applesauce. Happy New Year, everyone! I hope it's a forward-looking and positive year for all of us. |

I cannot get my rower to connect to ERGData, but ERGZone connects without issue. I committed to the challenge, so I am going to just manually log my workouts over from ERGZone First row is in...currently hanging out in 1804th place with 3,109. I am dreading work tomorrow, so I'll probably do a few more in a bit |

I just think it could always be better! 😂😂 I've caught my 8 year old listening to music and towing every day since we got the rower last Saturday. That's the real win because rowing hurts. Lol |

For some reason C2 makes us join the team and sign up for the challenge separately. You can tell by making sure you're on the list here: https://log.concept2.com/team/7747/vtc/2025 |

You navigated the PM5 to connect menu? I wonder if your PM5 needs firmware update. It can be loaded to a USB drive and inserted to the back on the unit. The phone/PM5 integration is really quite nice. It seamlessly loads WOD to the machine and transfers workout data to the online logbook. Well worth the effort to get it working IMO. C2 might also provide troubleshooting. |

Yes, definitely get Ergdata up and running with the PM5. Make a quick call to C2. . . I’ve done it in the past and they’ve been really helpful. |

Well, who's an idiot? This guy. Me. Went to close my pocket knife and it bit me on the tip of my middle finger. 4 fresh stitches to start the new year. Two of them through the fingernail. I'm going to find out how uncomfortable rowing can be in the morning. Is anyone using EXR? It's a little cartoonish but having some visuals other than the PM5 seems like it could be nice. |
