Never heard of/seen one of these. Did some research

"The blue-ringed octopus, despite its small size, carries enough venom to kill twenty-six adult humans within minutes. Their bites are tiny and often painless, with many victims not realizing they have beenĀ envenomatedĀ untilĀ respiratory depressionĀ andĀ paralysisĀ start to set in.Ā No blue-ringed octopusĀ antivenomĀ is available yet, making it one of the deadliest reef inhabitants in the ocean."

Yeah according to Wiki enough to kill 26 humans.  Plus a painless or nearly so, bite so many don't even know they've been envenomated until their diaphragm stops working.  And no antivenin to boot

dammit, beat by 22 secs!

Yes, apparently everyone else stopped reading at "no antivenom" currently available.

"First aid treatment is pressure on the wound and artificial respiration once the paralysis has disabled the victim's respiratory muscles, which often occurs within minutes of being bitten. Because the venom primarily kills through paralysis, victims are frequently saved if artificial respiration is started and maintained before marked cyanosis and hypotension develop. Efforts should be continued even if the victim appears not to be responding. Respiratory support, together with reassurance, until medical assistance arrives ensures the victims will generally recover.[citation needed]

It is essential that rescue breathing be continued without pause until the paralysis subsides and the victim regains the ability to breathe on their own. This is a daunting physical prospect for a single individual, but use of a bag valve mask respirator reduces fatigue to sustainable levels until help can arrive.[citation needed]

Definitive hospital treatment involves placing the patient on a medical ventilator until the toxin is removed by the body.[citation needed]

Victims who survive the first twenty-four hours usually recover completely.[13]"

I get a thrill out of risking my life while doing 160+ MPH on a motorcycle at a racetrack, shooting while running in 3gun/USPSA, etc.

Risking my life to hold an octopus??

yeah, not so much.

Poison dart frogs do, and as a bonus outside their natural environment they lose their toxicity.

Just to put this into perspective, the octopus is normally very docile, and the rings only appear when harassed. So, that little killer is none too happy being held...

I found a reddit post where the guy in the pic has some degenerative disease and stuff that causes him near constant pain. He's in the exotic fish business and said he lets them crawl on his hand when he feeds them.
He figures if one ever bites him, eh, he's gonna die anyway.
