ETA: Do I need Ubuntu as my dev system or will Linux Mint work? I have a laptop with Mint installed, but haven't run Ubuntu for a couple years. |

No use Ubuntu, Cannonical (the company behind Ubuntu) made a install that is specifically for the Nexus 7 so do that for now. No more VNC viewer garbage, this is the real deal. However keep in mind this is for ubuntu 12.10 which isn't a long term support so battery life, a few bugs may be present now. Sadly I dont have a nexus 7 to try this on or I would. I use ubuntu 12.04 as my go to desktop. Cannonical's plan is to have ubuntu 14.04 (ubuntu released in april of 2014) fully supported for tablets. That said I'd give it a go. |

Maybe if I had a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard it would have been more enjoyable. But not being able to long press for right click options, pinch resize, or swipe scroll in Firefox makes it forum unfriendly. It looks good though, and I guess could be used for something. Reflashed to factory image. |

I am thinking about this phone, I have a Nexus 4G right now and I love the thing. I can upgrade now if I want but I am still not sure. Really love this phone. Its a tablet, not a phone. Yes, Nexus 7 as in 7" tablet. The Nexus 4 is the phone. Looks pretty nice. Too bad I'm 1. on Verizon (vzw ain't getting Nexus devices no more, and I agree with this decision!), 2. have a Galaxy Nexus and a contract for about another year. |
