It's big among the granola crunchers and those who eschew (said with the proper snippiness) meds for common ailments.

yeah they're awesome.  I've had my nose broken like 4 times and get sinus infections real easy.  I had 3 in like 3 months before I got one of those, and I never had one again.

They have a squirt bottle version that really cleans stuff out.  It's amazing what's up there.

It works. I have bad allergies and do not like the shit my doctors put me on. A friend turned me on to the Pot and no more Med's .

It's like your drowning...but then...it's like crack...

DO NOT USE STRAIGHT TAP WATER...you have to use the buffer...tap water = gasoline...

I have used a Neti pot for over a year. I was on a nasal spray used twice a day and an oral med for my sinus problems.

I stopped using both the spray and the oral meds and now use only the Neti pot 3 or 4 times a day. I haven't felt this good in years.

This. My nose has been broken a few times and allergies always get me.  After a day being around dust and mold, this works great.  And I hate hippies

I used to get one or two really bad sinus infections a year. Now I avoid them by nasal irrigation. the thing works great!

My wife uses the squeeze bottle kind.

Nasal irrigation is great if you have allergies.  It's like hitting the RESET button in your nose.   It's also good if you work in dusty environments, or are outside a lot when it's dry and dusty.

I'll probably do it tonight before I hit the sack since I rode the motorcycle to work.

Weird, but true.  Works especially well for a really intense sinus infection that nothing else will clear, including prescription meds.

The Mayo Clinic supports the use of Neti pots.

When I need a rinse out, the neti pot is the greatest thing ever.

My sinuses are bad in winter, and I don't like some of the side effects of decongestant drugs.

Aaaaand for a contrarian report.....I used one for 6 months and had several of the most gawdawful sinus infections I've ever had.  Switched to the saline nasal sprays they sell at Walmart and now all's well.

The neti pot isn't for everyone YMMV.

It's great for getting the gunk out of your sinuses.
You wash your ass, brush youtr teeth and clean your ears daily, so why not clean the snot bucket too?

My girlfriend was bad to get sinus infections a couple times a year. The neti-pot cured it with no meds.

Its for real, just follow the directions for the correct type of douche.

I used a "Nasaline" (big huge syringe with a fitted plug at the end for your nostril) for awhile before I moved last September, and then it got lost in the move.

I keep thinking I'll find it one of these days, so I'm refusing to go buy another...but I might have to break down here shortly.

If you use distilled water with the right amount of salt at the right temp it works great and isn't uncomfortable.

I use the Neil-Med squeeze bottle one, with the little packets of salt mixture. It was pretty unpleasant at first until I got squared away on occluding the nasopharynx with the back of the tongue. After that it's been a breeze.

It is recommended that you use NON-IODIZED salt –– just a head's up.

The first few times you do this it's a very odd sensation.

and if it gets the olfactory function working again it makes scents.....!

My wife has wicked bad sinusitis, worst a few doctors had ever seen. Slides of the inside of my wife's nose are ENT porn.  She's had two major sinus surgeries, one minor, and dozens of infections with TONS of antibiotics, steroids (), and expensive treatments.  Twice daily sinus irrigation seems to be doing a lot to help keep her sinuses from growing polyps and backing up again.  Her problem is evidently an autoimmune response to they-know-not-what.

Instead of the neti pot, she uses a Neilmed bottle.  They're available at the pharmacy.  Easier to use, more effective.

We've both done a lot of research into the whole sinus rinse thing, and it's important to get past the hype.  The studies go back and forth over it's use in more general cases, with some claiming that it can help spread or deeper seat an infection while others claim benefit for John Q. Public from the practice.

My sister's husband introduced me to it when I strted getting allergic reactions to the pollens in the air last spring. I used it because I was having trouble breathing from my left nostril, turns out I had polyps in there.

Works great on those days one nostril or the other gets locked up.  The salt reduces the swelling.  Also helps with nasal allergies.

I have some hellatious allergies about twice a year in the fall and spring. Lasts about a month and a half at most. Most of the time about two weeks of allergies one day fine the next then back to full tilt boogie snot drain.

Tried the neti pot, burned like someone put a brazing torch up my nose seemed to make it worse for about two hours, and then... all clear.

Now I just buy a two months supply of alevert and go on with life. one pill in the AM keeps the allergies beat into submition. Also been taking a daily dose of local honey in the morning on my toast to see if this will make a difference come the fall.

The whole nose douche thing seemed like too much work... IMO

The neti pot is great, however CS is much more effective.
