I have a quick question for all you tech gurus, this is actually for my aunt who wants to get a Netbook for her son. She is wondering if she can use the Netbook off her wireless router at home rather then paying for the AT&T service? He just wouldn't be able to use it on the go but would he be able to use it at home this way or do you have to pay for service through AT&T?

They come with wifi, yes.

If you buy the netbook from AT&T, you have to pay for service through them, so you might as well use their 3G network.  That's how they give it to you for $100 off...you agree to pay them around $800 for two years service.

Get the netbook from Sam's or Best Buy. ($275-$350) It comes with WIFI (just like any laptop) but you're not tied to a 3G service provider.

Get the Toshiba. I got mine about two weeks ago and the extra 30 bucks is worth it because you get 9 hours of battery life as opposed to 4.5. I use my exclusively on wifi.

I bought a MSI Wind.  It's great.  It's not the AT&T one w/ phone service, so I can only use it on the net via wireless or a cable drop, but it works well.  I'd stay away from the Dell netbooks.  A friend bought one and the wifi didn't work.   It wouldn't connect.  We sent it in for repair, and it came back the same way.  Eventually after hours of runaround we discovered they had a known problem w/ the wifi.  A solution was expected in a few days, but she had 2 days before her return period ended. She returned it.  After their horrible service and runaround I wouldn't buy one of their netbooks for any reason, and probably wouldn't buy one of their PCs.  I don't like people who lie to me.

The little HP 110 I bought at Walmart is a great little computer. I travel for a living so its light weight is idea. I bought an external DVD writable drive for watching movies.

Its a neat little package that does simple stuff like email and internet very well.  The battery seems to run a hell of a lot longer than the stated 3 hrs. Going to pick up the extended battery soon.

My Wind was $300.  I have since upgraded it to 2GB of RAM.  A roughly 1.6G dual core processor w/ 2 GB of RAM And a 160GB HD is nothing to sneeze at.  Anything bigger and I wouldn't carry it all the time.
