Ran Malwarebytes and have comeback clean, but when I click on a link after a google search I get sent to random ad websites. If I type the address into the address bar everything loads fine, same if I click the "cache."

Any other programs I can run to clear this up?

It's bullshit I tell ya! Trying to find some reloading data today took way too long due to these bastard programs. And its not like I go to dirty websites, just the usually smutty ones.

download a program called rkill. boot in safemode. run that, then run malewarebytes. it sounds like there is stuff operating in the registry and causing malwarebytes to overlook it  rkill will sieze the hostile programs so that MBYTES can do its job fully

Sounds like your .hosts file might have got modified.

Might want to look into resetting that.

Go to ad and remove programs, see if there is one called systemtool then remove it. If that does not work...

Boot into safe mode than search the hidden .DLL files by date, newest first.

Let me know what you get, I got rid of Anti-Virus 2010 easily by deleting the first two but dont just delete the first two write down what they are and google them to make sure they are part of the undesirable program.

I had this happen a while back.

I tried everything and ended up reloading windows. There isn't a lot of help to be had on the internet. No one seemed to

know what the fix was and everyone had a suggestion. I tried them all and none worked.

Good luck.

It's not a .hosts file, it's just hosts.  In Windows (at least XP) it's in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\.   In unix based systems, it's in /etc/.   There is no dot in front of the filename.

System Restore worked for me.  It was about two years ago.  It never came back.
