HELP!!! When I re-formatted my hard drive I lost my copy of Microsoft Word! Sucky as it is, now I need it. Anyone know where to download a copy or is it pay Microshit for it? I don't want to be pirating software and will pay Microshit for it if that's the only way to get it. Yeah, shame on me for not burning it so I could reload it. Lesson learned. Thanks for any help.

you may be able to open the word documents with the stock word processor in XP on your recovery disk.  YOu could also try opening the documents with notepad or IE.

I can't think of any place to DL it though.

You can purchase legitimate copies of the entire MS Office package for approximately $75.  At that price, there is no reason to pirate anything.

I need it because all of the firearms paperwork at the PD I work for is in Word format.....and I'm an instructor. I like doing the paperwork from the comfort and privacy of my home (not to mention my comp is MUCH better and faster than the PD comps) so I'm stuck using Word, crappy as it is. I'm going to look at the PD tomorrow and see if there's a copy there that I can use but, knowing the assclown Chief, even if there is, I won't be able to use it. Oh, well. Like I said, lesson learned.

Thanks for the help, guys. I may play with the OpenOffice, if it's compatable with Word. If it's not, guess I'll have to buy it. At least this way, if I have to re-format again, I'll have it. Again, thanks.

OpenOffice reads and writes Microsoft documents very nicely.  In the time I have been using it, I have yet to find an incompatiabilities with OpenOffice and Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint.

OpenOffice is the biggest piece of shit I ever ran on my computer.  I tried it once and decided getting a real copy of MS Word was worth it.
