I am a farmer who sells primarily at farmers' markets. This year I am running a program where people buy into the farm in advance and use their credit over the course of the season.  I am hoping to manage this using magnetic strip cards to track each participants balance.  The software I will be using is Windows based (patronpal.com).  I will be using a usb strip reader and would like to connect it to a small tablet with a decent battery life, rather than using my laptop at the outdoor markets.  I need recommendations/suggestions for a windows based touch-screen tablet that doesn't break the bank.  Can't use Android OS with this software. Any ideas? Looking for a no-keyboard ipad style unit. Thanks for any input.

you might get better luck with a window based netbook, they're around the same price as an actual tablet and if used properly the battery life ain't too bad either.

The wife bought a toshiba thrive. I prefer to use my iPhone to surf the web. It's slow as hell. Has hdmi and USB ports that hardly recognize plug ins. I hate tablets.
