So I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door 4WD and I bought Pro Comp wheels for it last year and I did so much research on it and I thought I bought the right ones but I ended up having clearance issues. The front wheels ended up hitting the brakes so I had to buy spacers so they would clear the brakes. Now the tires rub on the inside of the wheel well and make such awesome noises. I am going to get new wheels and tires and need help figuring out what I need.

My current wheels have a 4.25 backspace and I had to get 1.25" spacers so they would clear. What backspace do I need this time so my wheels don't stick out and rub.

Thank you.

Lower the backspace the more they stick out. So if you have 4.25" backspacing and a 1.25" spacer you currently have the functional equivalent of a 3" backspace wheel. Don't know anything about tacoma's  but you're gonna have to take some measurements, and with your tire size in mind see what kind of difference you would need to achieve your desired result. Which means the magic number you are looking for is somewhere between 3 - 4.25.

Just figure out how much you need to move them in to eliminate rubbing and then add that number in inches to backspace, with some wiggle room for inconsistent tire sizes across manufacturers and more importantly some suspension articulation.

Sounds like you need to go to a larger rim diameter. What rim size did you get, 15, 16, or 17?

What size wheels and tires are you running now?? Diameter, width, and offset (or backspacing).

17x8, 0 offset should give you plenty of clearance, minimal rubbing on the fender/body mount, and large selection of tire choices.
