Here's a curiosity question for you...
I buy through a couple local shops. What is the retention period for the form 4473? Is it kept on file permanently? Does it get forwarded to the Feds? Does it get destroyed after a period of time? What happens to this thing? Really don't know.... thanks in advance for the info. Jeff |

Quoted:
stays on file at the shop until they give up the business, which then it all goes to the atf. atf can also inspect a dealers forms, and make copies for use in investigations. So as long as I never sell a gun that's on a 4473, they will always know I have it Sure, there's no registration.

Quoted: no its not registration. And yes, you can buy a gun from your friend without reporting anything, hand him money, he hands you gun. Its called a Face to face sale. As long as you are both in the same state. Its good to go.Quoted: Quoted: stays on file at the shop until they give up the business, which then it all goes to the atf. atf can also inspect a dealers forms, and make copies for use in investigations.
