another thread got me thinking.  It was stated that, if a handgun or rifle gets stolen from your vehicle, while bad, you as the owner would be fine.  However, if an NFA item (SBR in this case) gets stolen from your vehicle, it is somehow worse, and the owner will definitely be in trouble.

As I am probably going to get an SBR in the future, I would like to know.  Is it somehow "more bad" to lose an NFA item vs. a non-NFA item?

Just don't get it stolen in a place where you shouldn't have your SBR.

Wow....,you're a wealth of knowledge.  Do you think anyone ever plans on having items like firearms stolen?

Jesus, some people's kids.

About the only difference I have experienced is having to contact the ATF and have the stolen item removed from your trust.

According to federal law, you aren't in more trouble. The asshole who took it definitely is.

Might want to check state law.

You didn't think hard enough about it.

The only way you'd get into trouble if you reported in stolen in New Jersey, for example.

Had a buddy get his suppressor stolen from his truck, nothing bad on his end. Just providing the police report number and info to ATF on his trust.

Well...It is worse.

$200 tax stamp plus however much you put into your SBR.

Generally, I see people put more money into their NFA items than a non-NFA item.
