Michael David Hicks, a research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), passed away on July 30, 2023 at the age of 59, but the cause of death was never made public, and no record of an autopsy being performed could be found. Hicks, who worked at JPL from 1998 to 2022, was credited with publishing over 80 scientific papers and was part of multiple teams helping NASA understand the physical properties of comets Specifically, Hicks was involved with the DART Project, NASA’s test to see if humans could deflect dangerous asteroids away from Earth. He also worked on the Deep Space 1 Mission, which tested new spacecraft technology that flew by a comet in 2001. While there have been no public allegations of foul play, Hicks' case marks the ninth person with ties to America's space or nuclear secrets who has died or mysteriously vanished in recent years, which has set off alarm bells among US national security experts. Moreover, three of these scientists had close ties to Hicks, as all of them worked at the Jet Propulsion Lab or participated in NASA missions there. Monica Reza, JPL's new Director of the Materials Processing Group, vanished without a trace in June 2025, just months after beginning her tenure at the NASA lab. Two other men with deep ties to JPL died recently, including a long-time coworker of Hicks, Frank Maiwald, who died in July 2024 at age 61, with even less public acknowledgement of his untimely passing. Meanwhile, astrophysicist Carl Grillmair, 67, was murdered on the front porch of his home on February 16, 2026. The California Institute of Technology researcher's work was heavily supported by NASA's JPL, and Grillmair was personally involved with major space telescope missions led by NASA. |

hmmmm... 2 or 3 could be a coincidence. 9, with verifiable deaths and bodies that are accounted for could be somewhat easily explained as a toxin being present at the worksite...weak, I know, but at least explainable to some capacity. 9, with mix of verified deaths and unaccounted for bodies/missing people is strange to say the least. |

9 people over 3 years all late 50s to 80s. There are thousands if not tens of thousands of people that work for NASA, JPL, in research about space, etc. I would like to see a list of names, ages, where they worked, and supposedly what they died of / circumstances. For example. Here is a part of his obit. Attached File Frank Maiwald (deceased) NASA JPL principal researcher, died July 4, 2024, in Los Angeles at age 61. His obituary stated: "Frank Werner Maiwald, aged 61, passed away on July 4, 2024, in Los Angeles, CA. Born on June 24, 1964, in Ratingen, Germany, Frank's journey brought immense contributions to both his personal life and professional endeavors." An autopsy was reportedly not performed. Monica Reza (missing) Connected to NASA JPL projects, missing since June 22, 2025. A Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Office alert stated she was last seen hiking along Angeles Crest Highway at 9:10 a.m. on June 22. The alert noted, "There is concern for Ms. Reza's well-being," and the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau was involved. Melissa Casias (missing) Employee at Los Alamos National Labs, missing since June 26, 2025. In September 2025, Taos News reported: "Two months after Melissa Casias, a 53-year-old Los Alamos National Labs employee, went missing, her disappearance has left more questions than answers. New Mexico State Police reported no breakthroughs in the investigation." Anthony Chavez (missing) Missing since May 8, 2025. Daily Mail noted, "Chavez left his car locked in the driveway and did not take his wallet, keys or other personal items, which were all found inside Chavez's home." The Los Alamos Police Department urged the public to assist in locating him Ex-Air Force General William "Neil" McCasland (missing) Missing since February 27, 2026. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office stated he was last seen near his residence on Quail Run Court NE. McCasland previously commanded the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, managing a $2.2 billion science and technology program. His wife, Susan McCasland Wilkerson, debunked UFO-related theories on Facebook, noting, "Neil does not have any special knowledge about the ET bodies and debris from the Roswell crash stored at Wright-Patt." Nuno Loureiro (deceased) MIT professor of nuclear science and engineering and physics, died at age 47. Police reported he was shot by Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, a person known to him from university in Portugal. Carl Grillmair (deceased) 67-year-old astrophysicist with work supported by NASA JPL, connected to missile tracking technology used by the Air Force, was shot on his front porch on February 16, 2026, at 6 a.m. Jason Thomas (deceased) Pharmaceutical researcher at Novartis, went missing in December 2025. His body was recovered from Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield on March 17, 2026. People reported that Thomas was struggling with the deaths of his parents and no foul play is suspected. |

There does not seem to be any real connection in knowledge, projects, or location of these. Several were retired several years and were no longer working. Of course with classified projects people have stories about what they do for a living that are actual lies, but the locations aren't even close to being the same for most of them. |

There's likely a hundred other JPL employees with more military/dangerous projects going on. Why would the details of his death be made public? When my dad died there wasn't a public announcement giving the details of his death and no autopsy was performed. I worked in government, that doesn't mean our deaths details are public announcements.  With shit for journalist it's really fucking hard to figure out if this is real or not. |

Pep[le die every day. But to go on a hike and never be seen again is odd. Cadaver dogs can find bodies easily. Disappearing is HARD! Use of credit cards, accessing banking or the medical system is traceable. But if a foreign government wants to throw you in the back of a van and put you on an airplane at 11 at night they can certainly do that. Then it's forced slave labor for your scientific brain. That's what I think happened to those that disappeared. Now for those that died youngish, perhaps they were selling secrets. That's how you get blown away sitting on your porch. Loose ends and all. |
| Old conspiracy theories. Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the Diesel engine dissapeared on a ship to Britain to sell Diesel engines. His body was found later, presumed drowned. Fritz Haber, inventor of the Nitrogen fixation process that kept Germany from running out of explosives first year of WW1 and is the process most of the worlds fertilizers are made with. His death officially by heart attack is still under the conspiracy theory category. Situation was Einstein had just left Germany. Fritz was jewish to. He was a mile from getting out of Germany. Who knows if there is anything of greater danger is happenning wiith these scientist. We should of course pay attention. |

It's not possible to hide a marobone from her whether it's in your pocket, buried in the bedsheets, or thrown into the middle of the yard. She will find it rikki tik. She's real good at finding hidden lawn bacon (dried earthworms) too. |

Just FYI since two people have made the suggestion: al-anon isn't Alcoholics Anonymous, and doesn't suggest the guy had a drinking problem. Al-anon is a group for friends/families of people impacted by someone else with a drinking problem. Directing memorial donations there is more likely to indicate something about his upbringing or personal relationships than his cause of death. |
