Heading to Myrtle 1st weekend in October, Thurs-Sun & planning on golfing Fri/Sat. I've narrowed it down to either Grande Dunes or Barefoot. Where should I go? This will be our 1st time down there. If I'm completely missing another course (there are so many), please let me know that too. Thanks! |

We like to stay in N. Myrtle at the Ocean Drive Golf and resort. We’ve stayed at the hotel multiple times over the years and just got back from a week there. But, I don’t golf so I don’t know anything about that part of it. The community of North Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer and is less touristy. Less bars, but Thursday through Sunday there are live music venues, and part of the street is closed for live music also. |

Don't overlook the south end of the Grand Strand, IE Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach Murrells inlet. There is Wachesaw Plantation, TPC Myrtle Beach, Prestwick, Whispering Pines, Blackmoor, Arrowhead CC and you can play a short round at Tupelo Bay. If it works for you my in-laws have an 2nd floor condo opening the second week in October in Surfside Beach. It's a really nice 2 bedroom unit, 2nd floor. The unit has a partial beach view. We've decided to spend the weekend on the coast. I believe we are staying at the North Beach Villas, which doesn't put all our eggs in one basket and we'll be able to pick and choose different courses instead of just staying in one place. |
| My parents live a skip from Barefoot on the Beach on S Ocean Blvd. Barefoot is a good course, I really like the Pete Dye course, Azeala Sands is nice, not a big fan of Beachwood though. About 30 minutes north just over the NC border is Crow Creek. That is a course I play every time I visit. One of my favorites that won't break the bank. Played Surf a couple times and it is ok depending on how the crew has in manicured. |
