Hey, happy belated birthday!

I'm half Filipino, too. My mom's from Cagayan de Oro, I believe the island is north Mindanao. I've visited once, been to Manila and Cebu City, too. But I'm ashamed to say I don't speak Tagalog, or Bisayan (my mom's dialect).

I loved the Philippines. Definite culture shock at first, but after a day of settling in it was awesome. We rode the jitneys (sp?), went to the tropics (Tinago Falls) and hung out at the beach, I forget where. We were in Manila just for the plane in and out, stayed in Cebu for a night, and didn't really sightsee, so yeah we were mainly in Cagayan and the surrounding areas. The only bad thing about the whole trip was the water jet, that thing was evil. I've never gotten so seasick in my life!
