Looking for a good multi tool to keep in my work bag for under $100.00 with the standard pliers, screwdrivers, etc. Anyone have a recommendation?

Best Multitool (TOOL KNIVES)? Leatherman vs Gerber, SOG, Victorinox, DeWalt, Mossy Oak, Ozark Trail

I thought this was a neat review from Project Farm.

I have the Victorinox (and like a half dozen others not in the video) and it’s my favorite.

Gerber diesel by far the best multi tool I have found.  They come black or stainless

I really like my Gerber Diesel. It was my first multi tool way back in the day and I like the action. I think it's nifty.

That said the Leatherman wave is better in like, every way.

I've always wanted to buy a multi tool, but never found myself in a situation where I thought, dang I wish I had a multi tool right now.

I work in hospitals so it doesn't really go with the attire to edc it. Thought about buying one to throw in the glovebox, but I'm kinda meh about that too.

Someone convince me I need one.

What kind of work are you doing with it? I like my leatherman crunch, the pliers are locking pliers similar to vice grips.

I won’t be using it in my day to day job much. I want it in my work bag as a back up just in case. There have been random times a screwdriver or pliers would have been handy.

Everyday. All day.
Wave+ is all I've ever needed for a multi tool. Used it about four times today for random stuff.

If you actually need STRONG vise-grip function, Harbor Freight sells very inexpensive small needle-nose. Way better than anything I’ve seen on any multitool. I carry a pair always in my range bag.

I have had a ton of multi tools, I use them most every day.
Never liked the Gerber that have the retractable jaws.
Super tool 300 is a good bag carried tool but heavy, to heavy for pocket carry IMO and I have 4 or 5 around here somewhere.
The one I like most is a Leather man signal ( I was surprised buy that fact since its a bush craft model ).
Its light enough that I don't notice it in my pocket. Decent blade, saw, replaceable wire cutter blades etc.
If I lost one of them, I would not be heartbroken, unless it was the signal.
If I lost the signal I would buy another signal the same day if I could.
That is about the highest recommendation I can give.

FPNI.

I have two Waves, one for work and one for around the farm.  I end up using it multiple times during the day.  The most used things are the pliers, knife blade, scissors, wire cutter/stripper and Phillip's screw driver.  Not in that order.

Leatherman Wave.  I'm pretty far down this road and have tested most other multitools under fairly hard daily use.  Some say Tim Leatherman is a commie but he undoubtedly makes the best multitool by a longshot.

Have used a surge for many years. It is bulky for sure. Broken once.My fault. I offered to pay to get it repaired. They replaced the tool.Honestly I wanted my old one back. Many miles . Amazing customer service. Another company that needs to shut the fuck up about politics though. Will be using and carrying mine tomorrow

I have used Gerber MultiPlier, Leatherman Wave, and the SOG Power Assist in Afghanistan, Saudi, and Cambodia.  The one I'm using now is the Power Assist, which is heavy duty.  Accent on the heavy.  The blades are uncomfortable to get out and to put back, but the pliers are great.  I like that the 1/4 screwdriver functions as a hex bit driver, and I like their bits better than the ones for the Wave for use as tools, but they are much more ungainly.  Otherwise, much prefer the Wave.  The bits are good enough, and in a convenient format, although a bit less heavy duty than the SOG version.

My vote goes to the Wave or Wave+ for EDC just for the ease of use and relatively lighter weight alone.  And no, I don't like their politics.

Get a Swiss Army knife , or leatherman

Don’t get a Chinese multi-tool , such as a Gerber, SOG, ozark trail , I’ve broken the can openers on several Chinese tools

A multi tool would be pretty handy at work if it were made with side cutters instead of pliers but the only one I’ve ever seen was a five dollar Ozark Trail made of chinesium.

I would get the Leatherman Charge. It's well worth the extra money over the Wave. You might be able to find one pretty close to $100.

ETA: I see several listings on eaby for new ones with the bit set for $120.

I prefer the Surge, both are larger and more capable than the wave.  Check ebay or pawn shops?

Yeah, if you're not pocket carrying it regularly then get the Surge. It's a bit bigger and will be slightly more durable overall. I still like the Wave+ though for everyday use.
