36 hours. 12km ruck. Run and gun biathlon. Mountaineering. Rifle match out to 1,000 meters. And more. You can enter the shooting events without participating in the rest of the weekend. Townsend, Montana. Would you like to know more? This year, there will be two classes of competitors: Jäger and Shooter. Jägers compete in the entire event in pursuit of a Jäger Achievement award. Shooters compete solely in the shooting events. Jägers will compete against each other, but will also compete for an individual, standards based award. The criteria for the Mountain Jäger Bronze Proficiency Achievement (All first year Jäger competitors) is as follows; (Note that these are not listed in the order they occur) 12km ruck with no less than 45lbs ruck (dry weight) in 2 hours. 3km Modern Military Summer Biathlon (1st KM Rifle/ruck/fighting load->drop ruck and engage 10 targets at 300y->2nd KM with rifle and fighting load only->engage 10 targets at 300y->pick up ruck and finish final KM + penalties). Must hit at least 50% of the targets in each stage AND complete the Biathlon in 45 minutes or less, including firing time. Complete an 8 point night/day land navigation course with at least 6 of 8 points. Max allowable time is 10 hours. Complete the pistol stage with a score of at least 80%. Complete the rifle stage with a score of at least 80%. Complete the shotgun stage with a score of at least 80%. Demonstrate your ability to rig a 2:1 pulley system in 10 minutes or less without references. Demonstrate your ability to tie at least 4 of 6 knots randomly selected from the APC Pioneer Task Book/Army Sapper Leader Course Handbook/Ranger Handbook (knots chosen will be limited to those listed in all the above). Demonstrate your ability to ascend a rope at least 30' with a prusik. Conduct a 30m rappel High-angle marksmanship match: achieve at least 70% hits overall on the combined 600/800/1000y course of fire. Shooters may participate in all shooting events, and if available and willing may assist with staff/support work for the Jäger events. Those who achieve Bronze for Jäger this year will have the opportunity to step it up to Silver either over the winter (in February) or next summer. |
