Does anyone do a quick calesthenics workout when they wake up? I wake up and immediately the dog and I go out outside, where it does dog stuff, and I do a quick 20 rep based workout. 20 reps of a leg exercise (squats, lunges, calf raises, etc) 20 reps of a push-up variant, 20 leg lifts, and 20sec plank. I keep feeling like I should add more exercises, but I enjoy just getting the blood flowing and getting some sun/fresh air right away. If you do so, what do you do? Have any recommendations on things to add besides more reps to mine? |

So now I start waking up at 4am, in the gym by 5am and out by 6:05am to go home, shower and be at work at 7am. |

I'm up at 4am, look for a good podcast while coffee is brewing, and then lift for 45 minutes or so 4 days a week with one weekend morning reserved for a longer workout. I rotate through free-weight lifting and resistance bands and intermix sprints twice a week. 5:30 or so to 6 is stretching, then get kids and wife out of bed, shower, pack my breakfast (fast from 6pm -10am) and lunch and then off to work. Mornings are the only time I can block off this much of the day without interruptions. |

I get up at 2:30 am and start work at 4 am. Luckily I’m only 15 minutes from work. I do a short workout and decline sit-ups every morning on workdays. I also do a full 45 minute workout 3 days a week after work and one day a week on the weekend my morning workout is a full workout. So 6 short morning workouts a week and 4 full workouts per week. Everyone says they can’t believe how I’m wide awake and energetic when I get to work at 4 am while everyone else is tired and grumpy the first few hours. It’s the morning workouts mostly I also choose to be happy at work lol. |

We sleep with the AC on 68 and I always wake up at 4:00AM tired and cold. I have a little morning ritual that is primarily to get the blood flowing/mobility. -Jumping. up and down, forward to back, side to side. Nothing high just feet a few inches off the ground. 1 minute. -Toe touches. 10 reps. (Standing up bend at hip and touch toe. Then stand back up instead of holding the stretch) -The worlds greatest stretch. 30s each side. -Full squat, grab ankle with one hand. Stretch other hand high to sky. Alternate. 30s each side. -Hip circles 10 reps. -Arm circles 10 reps. -Head circles for the neck. 10 reps. -Downward dog. To Judo pushup. To Cobra stretch. 5 reps. 30s hold on each stretch. Etc. If I think of something else I might throw it in. But in general just one round of that. Done in about 10 minutes. Wakes me up. Warms me up. Gets the blood flowing. If I didn't need mobility at all and wanted a morning calisthenics routine I'd do the following. 3 rounds 10 reps each. -Squat jumps. -Pushups. -DB or band rows. -Pike pushups. -Jumping lunges. |

Morning workouts are good for me because there is less of a chance that something will come up that will get in the way of my workout. It also seems to even out my mood before going to work. I guess I feel like I have already accomplished something before my day has really started. What I like even more is mid morning workouts, around 9:00 or 10:00. But that only happens when I have off work for some reason. |
