Anyone else experience a similar issue with their Health Insurance?
I went to an oral surgeon to have a fibrous tumor removed from my gums. (ended up not being cancer) LUCKY! Couple weeks later I received a bill from the oral surgeon for the work. Waited for Insurance to pay their part. Two weeks later I received a letter from my insurance company saying nope not covered not paying. I then paid oral surgeon's full bill. Two weeks after that I get a letter from my insurance company saying that they now paid 80% of the bill. Now I'll call the surgeons office and get reimbursed for what my insurance company paid them. I'm happy and all that it's paid for but kind of freaks me out when bills sit unpaid for a while because I try not to let anything go on collection or ding my credit score. By no means am I saying I'm unhappy with my insurance because it does rock and I'm lucky to have it. |

They probably got a claim from a "dentist" and the first line denied the claim. The dentist followed up between your first letter and sending payment.
This year has been a doozy of medical issues for my family and Humana has only screwed up once that I know of. They fixed it with one phone call. If I didn't have insurance I would have been filing bankruptcy this year. I've been buying medical insurance since I turned 18 and I think this year I got more out of it than I've paid in since. Thankfully everyone has recovered.

I work very closely with Tricare.. Oral surgery authorizations almost always get higher level review by the medical director. Although I dont have Tricare myself, I do hold dental insurance just because I dont want to get into that situation (and cost free cleanings are nice too). Even TMJ is not a covered benefit.
And .gov thinks we want their insurance? (tricare does cover more than most private insurances, but doesn't seem to pay as well as alot either). |
Thankfully everyone has recovered.
