Greetings, I am considering applying for LE locally in TN. In 2019 I was arrested for Agg Assault, when while blackout drunk I recklessly attacked our Uber driver after I perceived he slighted my then fiancé. I also applied to the Guard recently, and within that application disclosed the arrest, which after a Pre Trial Intervention, I was fortunate to have dismissed and expunged (firearms purchase and ownership therefore okay now). I say this to demonstrate that I am the type of person who will always tell the truth during these processes. The Guard is currently in a holding pattern for waivers both related to the above, and medical-related items. I wanted the team here’s take on the scenario. The initial application just asks about “felony convictions”, to which I accurately and honestly answered “No”. However, will this arrest come up in later BI, and therefore likely bar me from acceptance? As a follow up question, therefore, would it even be advisable to apply at all? I just don’t want to waste the department’s time either; want to be fair to everyone including myself. Thank you in advance and thank you for your service V/R, Brian |

Blackout Drunk AGG Assault OP…..you have exhibited behaviors that you need to address to ensure a long, productive, and happy life. LE and SF is all about controlling a chaotic situation and restoring order. Self control, discipline, and maturity are must haves. Ask yourself, do you have these traits? 18Z50…. |

I appreciate it sir, I haven’t drank since 2018 and have started a family, church group avid member, etc. I completely understand and am on board with why the process is the way it is and accept it.
