Just left my local pawn shop; they have a S-42 1936 K-98, matching reciever and trigger group, no capture or import marks, duffel cut stock. Bad news, it has for tapped holes in the top of the reciever, scope mount I guess and the stock is total crap. $179 junk or not?

"S" code is Mauser. 1936 is a pre-war year and these are usually very good rifles and not made with slave labor. The a historic replacement stock in good condition will be hard to get.

Assuming the barrel and action are in good to vg condition it is worth it.
