 Current home has two of these openers (as does the whole neighborhood). It seems, folks are generally not happy with them, but they came with the house (presumably as old as the house, 2010). A few months ago, one of the openers started opening past the high limit, and the light would start flashing. Door worked fine otherwise. This was 'my' door, the one that is used multiple times daily. Tried adjusting / setting the limits, no help. Bought some of the triangle limit tabs that go on the belt, replaced those, also did not help. https://www.movingupgaragedoors.com/marantec-96834-tab-replacement-belt-drive Lived with issue for a few months. I could manually stop the door by pushing the button when it was near the high limit. While randomly looking at getting another remote fob for a motorcycle, found this comment : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LXAY4T4?tag=arfcom00-20 which says "For anyone else having this same issue where their Marantec 4500 has trouble at the very end of either closing or opening, check the large capacitor on the circuit board to see if the end of it isn’t perfectly flat or is slightly bulging. I was able to grab a 10-pack of 2200uF 35v capacitors here on Amazon for about $8 and replaced the large capacitor on the circuit board. After doing so, it was working perfectly. And now I’ve got some on hand in case this happens to the other opener." So, ordered some 35V 2200UF caps. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07JLL4HBS Unplugged opener, unscrewed 4 screws, removed bottom cover. The power supply board had 4 wired connections and was held in place with a plastic tab and zip tie.   Removed board, unsoldered old cap (which was bulging), soldered in new cap (check polarity!), reinstalled board, tested function. Working perfectly. Just wanted to share in case it can help others. After trying the limit set and limit tab fixes, was on the fence about replacing the opener, since at the time I couldn't find anything else about how to fix it. Glad I just lived with the issue until that tidbit popped up. |
