Looking to get a new treadmill and was checking them out. Anyone have experience with them? Max distance anyone in household would be doing is 5 miles, mainly using for sprinting intervals. |
| If you can figure out how to regulate your pace on them, people seem to like them. I cant figure them out and the jog turns into an all out sprint in seconds. I am functionally retarded, but am usually pretty coordinated and cannot get it right so I would say try before you buy. |

I doubt a treadmill of any sort is your best bet here. Most treadmills have a definite lag in how quickly they allow you to change speeds, which makes them much less than ideal for sprint work. The manual/curved treadmills (mostly Woodway) and the Wahoo Kickr Run (this one isn't manual) can better handle what you're wanting, but are $$$$. If sprint work was what I was wanting to focus on I'd stick with the road right outside my house, or find the steepest hill around. Treadmills in general are better suited to steady work, whether easy runs or (my favorite) being able to just set a given pace for a workout and absolutely nail the effort level for longer (and much slower relative to sprinting) workouts. |
Fear not the weapon, but rather the hand which wields it.

I stepped on one of those a couple of times at one gym. Holy shit have I ever sprinted so fast on a damn treadmill. I obviously didn't know what the fuck I was doing. I honestly thought they must be for sprints but it seems reading here there must be technique. I just know I felt like it was absolutely all or nothing when i stepped on one. |

I ended up buying a Tru Grit elite. Got it put together and tested. I like it. It has resistance so it’s easier to walk or jog. Attached File |

I wish I have room for one in my townhouse. This, they are awesome, small learning curve getting used to them but no going back to regular IMO |
