Years ago i had a cheap fish scale i used but i cant find it. There are some digital fish scales on amazon under $10. One time i used a weight of some sort, cant remember what exactly, but say you have a 5 lb weight ond hang it from the trigger, you can tell if its over or under 5 lb pull. Anybody got any other ideas?

Clamp the rifle upright, bend up a coat hanger for a trigger hook, hang a milk jug onto the hook, add water until it goes then weigh the jug on a kitchen scale.

I would just buy a new fish scale. I have a 10kg and a 300kg and I use them more than I thought I would. I don't even use a bathroom scale anymore, just do a pullup on the fish scale.

Figured something out. Empty Michelob bottles weigh 6.8 oz. full one weighs 19.5 oz.Attached File
keep adding until it trips.

5 full beers will hang on it, then barely touch it to trip. So looks like just over 6 lbss. Not as bad as i thought. Now to measure my 45 shield.

Since there is so much interest in my thread i will add that a little over 4 full beers didnt quite trip the shield. Id say its a litte over 5 lbs.

Try adjusting the sear and disconnector fingers on the spring in your 1911. They come on the strong side so you can probably get that trigger pull down easy.

That is an AMT Automag 2 (22 mag) i've never had it down far enough to see if it uses the same 3 finger spring system as a standard 1911. It is a bit of a PITA  to field strip. The return spring doesnt want to stay in place and the ejector is a seperate part that will fall out if you dont keep the gun upright.
