The same company (Nite-Ize) is making them for 2-6 D or C cell maglights now. www.niteize.com/productdetail.php?category_id=28&product_id=127&PHPSESSID=b3c470c344203a34eda6c94de3ebaa23 Target has them for 9.95/ea.... |

Not sure which item you're asking about - Nite-Ize has been selling low-power LED bulb conversions to fit both AA and C/D-sized MAG-LITES for quite a while now. The AA version is about 5 bucks, and the newer C/D version is about 10 bucks. Neither is particularly bright (a fact which Nite-Ize acknowleges by suggesting that you use the original incandescent bulb until the batteries start to go dim, and then switch to the LED bulb to wring some extra light out of the batteries). MAG has also just introduced their own LED bulb conversions, which are built around a much brighter 3 watt Luxeon LED. They are available in 2, 3, 4 (and I believe 5 also)- cell versions, and sell for a tad under 20 bucks at Wal-Mart. Note that 3 watts is a pretty hefty load, so expect battery life to suffer somewhat. Finally MAG is also selling their flashlights with the same LED bulb conversion pre-installed. The 2 D-cell version runs about 34 bucks at Wal-Mart. For another LED flashlight option, check out the thread on a bright, super-efficient LED bulb conversion for under 7 bucks. |

Here's one dissenting opinion: although whiter, I find the subject mini-maglight LED conversion actually less bright, and you can't focus the beam right anymore. The whole thing actually works WORSE than any of my LED micro-lights. Buy a few micro-lights instead. |

I could be wrong! BTW, Skibane - that avatar is not a personal photo is it? And if by chance it is I like it. I'll bet the chicks love it when you nibble on there ears and stuff. Have you thought about moving up to something like a salad bowl or a '57 Chevy hubcap? Of course, you couldn't go wrong with the ever popular garbage can lid. |
