Could someone explain the purpose behind these.  Does it really help, you still have a mag in your hand.  In combat why not let it just fall?hinking.gif

Its primarily for getting magazines out of pouches. I use ranger plates, and love them.

I was wondering the what the reason is for them also.  I can hit the mag release button and all my mags just fall out.

the pull isnt from your gun, but from your gear

If I understand your question correctly: it's not to catch the mag as it ejects (though it will cusion the impact on the ground). The Magpul makes it easier to grab a mag from the mag pouch so you don't fumble around trying to grab from several flush-fitting magazines.

ETA: WOW, 5 answers in just over one minute... gotta love teh Arfcom

I have also used a loop on an RP to pull a mag that was stuck out, with my pinky, while I held a full mag in my other hand.

This is how I use my Magpuls. They do not stay on well enough for you to use the tab so I push them down all the way and when I have 2 mags in a pouch the 2 magpuls space the mags apart far enough for me to grab them easily with gloves on.
