I'm really starting to think about marking the M53 as my next gun to get.

So how are they? Are they pretty reliable? Are they just as well crafted as the original German version? Is it hard to find linked 8mm?

Wiselite M53s are built like a brick shithouse.  I'd recommend one.

I wish there was a semi-auto PKM out there, but people use PKMs.

Budget for a linker or you'll hate life.

There are Semi-PKMs. VLTOR makes receivers.

There is a semi PKM - marcolmarfirearms.com made them and, I think, still has a few left.

OP - I've not seen or handled a Wiselite, but I've heard they're pretty good.  If I didn't  already have the real-deal full-auto MG-42, I'd probably buy one.  Ammo is actually pretty easy to load by hand - the non-disintigrating belts are much easier to work with than links.  I'd advise buying a spare barrel and barrel bearing as well as a number of 50rd belts and starting tabs.  I'd also recommend a 308 conversion kit (barrel, booster, topcover, and MG3 feed tray).  With the MG3 feed tray you can also use 308 in the plastic 50rd drums, clipped to the tray.

That thing is stamped metal sex.

I just don't have the 6.5k.

Right now, M53s can be had for less than 2.5k.

I'd like to know, I've considered selling my pre 1994 Para FAL to a New Yorker and getting one......

Happiness is a belt fed weapon (even a semi)

Yeah, probably cost a pretty penny too.

Not a lot of inof/reviews out there. I've Googled the hell out of it and haven't found much info...
