I'm really starting to think about marking the M53 as my next gun to get. So how are they? Are they pretty reliable? Are they just as well crafted as the original German version? Is it hard to find linked 8mm? |

There is a semi PKM - marcolmarfirearms.com made them and, I think, still has a few left.
OP - I've not seen or handled a Wiselite, but I've heard they're pretty good. If I didn't already have the real-deal full-auto MG-42, I'd probably buy one. Ammo is actually pretty easy to load by hand - the non-disintigrating belts are much easier to work with than links. I'd advise buying a spare barrel and barrel bearing as well as a number of 50rd belts and starting tabs. I'd also recommend a 308 conversion kit (barrel, booster, topcover, and MG3 feed tray). With the MG3 feed tray you can also use 308 in the plastic 50rd drums, clipped to the tray. |
