I have an HP pavilion laptop that just crashed on me. I was doing some online training for work when the whole computer froze. I tried crtl alt del and that wouldn't work either so I just turned it off. I waited a few minutes and turned it back on, then after sits on a screen with hp logo for a few minutes it then goes to a blank black screen. Does the hive have any advice on what to do or try next. And no I haven't backed it up. I feel I might be screwed.

Can you get into the BIOS?  Not sure on that model, but it usually requires hitting usually F10, F12, or DEL on that inital splash screen.

I will be honest I'm not real tech savvy and I think Im just going to take it a computer place and see what they can do. I feel like an idiot I bought an external back up hard drive and I never used it. So I hope wherever I take it can at least retrieve my info. And put it on my hard drive.
