| Does anyone here know how to reverse a license plate number and come up with a name and address? |
www.michigan.gov/documents/bdvr154_16269_7.pdf |
How is that any different than predators using phone numbers to obtain addresses. I don't want that either but it exists. And now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to contact the parents of the little fucker that thought it was amusing to run the GF and me off the road last night. At first I thought he didn't see us on the bike but when he looked at us, laughed and kept merging I knew he didn't care. The cops won't do anything because we're alive and I can't help but think contacting this shitheads parents is my only form of recourse without getting myself into trouble. I at least want him to know I found out who he is. Maybe it'll be a wakeup call. |
Just report it to the popo. You could be opening a can of worms if you do what you are talking about. |
Wholly unlike just following you home, from a distance? ![]() Besides, I doubt there's too many arfcomer folks who drive a car that's worth getting shot over while trying to steal it, IMO. |
In Oklahoma, you take a current copy of your PI Agency license down to a friendly tag agency, leave them a copy, and pay a deposit to draw tag checks against. (Individual PI licenses do not work, you must have a bona fide agency,IIRC.) Edited to add: Why yes, I do own a bona fide licensed PI agency. |
They would have fun trying to follow me home. It's kinda obvious out where I live. And yes, I have at least one vehicle that some jerk might think is worth it. Besides, car thieves don't really think about that for NO vehicle is worth getting shot over. It might be worth shooting them if they are on my property or trying to carjack me. |
I obviously don't want trouble but whose this shitbag gonna run off the road next? Will the next rider be experienced enough to save himself? Will the person that gets killed next time leave kids behind? What gives this asshole the right to privacy over my right to stay alive? Would I really be breaking any laws by making a simple phone call and letting him know that if I ever see his name in the police blotter I'll be contacting the police to offer my services as a witness to his previous driving skills? As long as I obtain his name and address legally that is. |
I had a guy run me off the road on US-131 between Cadillac and Big Rapids where I was going to college. He thought it was funny to speed up as I was passing him on the two lane road and try to run me into an on-coming car. I was passing him to get between him and a tractor trailer with plenty of space. He decided to speed up and slow down repeatedly not letting me in. I got his license plate and called a state police officer who went to investigate. Guy admitted to it though I was the only witness. They ticketed him and it was going to trial. Prosecutor was going to slam dunk him, he had an attorney and ended up plea barginning down to a lower charge but the points were the same and he had attorney, court and fines to pay. You and the GF need to file complaints prosecutor's office if this is still allowed in MI like it was in the 1980's. Burn the little sh*t. |
That could be construed as harassment or worse. |
Damn, I didn't know you could do that. I know cops can go in and get a tag for $1 |

If someone is following me, I usually pull ahead, pull over and pop my hood, then raise it. If anyone asks in testimony you can say you were trying to find out why your vehicle was "running a little hot". Plus I'm not cramped in a pen if they decide to do something like accost me. Fighting from the drivers seat is not the best offensive position. You also get a good look at the car and driver, provided a barrel isnt pointed your way from a window or sunroof. |
