My computer won't upgrade to Win11, due to the hardware, so I need to get a new motherboard. Since I'm already doing that, and my case is on the left side of my desk, I'd like to find a case with the lights/window/access on the right side. I've looked online, but have only found discontinued cases. Are there any current ones, that aren't expensive? ($50-$75 range, I hope). Here's some info on what I have;

Inverted case is what you seek but like above I don't know any that cheap. Ryzen 3600 should be able to do windows 11. Is it TPM that is stopping you? I just spoke with my son, and he said that it is compatible. He did something with that TPM, and it still doesn't work. He's suggesting that we wipe the drive, install Win10 again from my disk, and work it from there. I'm going to work on getting all the installers and stuff that I want, and put them on a flash drive, in case he's ready to do it tomorrow. |

A more recent backup of docs, files, bookmarks, passwords and such is never a bad idea. hope you can save the money from a motherboard on a fancy case!

I screen capped all of my programs, then went and got all the installers that I could. I'll ask my son to do whatever it is to save all of my Firefox settings for me. I'm as ready as I can be, except for maybe getting that case. This would sure be the time to do it. Edit - Case is ordered. About a week for delivery. |

Yes, and my son did other things, but so far nothing has worked. I know he did something with that TPN, and something with four letters (euli?). He went to the MB site, and other stuff that I don't even know. The last thing he did was download a Win11 installer onto a flash drive. I don't know if he's going to try that on my current boot drive, hoping to update, or start fresh on a different/blank SSD that I have. I'm just waiting for him to have time. He's still in his first year of marriage, so he has stuff to do. I'm always hoping for it to happen soon though. |

TPM has to do with bitlocker encryption. do you have it disabled? enabling it in the bios should help. AHCI V ata. that is the mode the harddrive is in. changing it will cause the device most likely not to boot anymore. ( don't change it unless your data is secured and backed up on 2 other locations) backup up data, changing to enabled. and AHCI should allow the upgrade if you really wanted too.. |
| I have never done anything in bios. The few times my son started trying to walk me through doing something in there, it was easier to just let him do it. I didn't understand what I would be doing, so I didn't see any point in just typing whatever he said. Even what you just typed, is over my head. I appreciate that you're trying to get me where I need to be though, and maybe I'll learn more along the way with this OS upgrade/case deal. |
Yeah, we had a little cool-down, so the A/C doesn't come on as much. There's no cold air return in my end of the house, so it starts to heat up. It's getting down in the 60s tonight, so I have the windows open and a box fan in the window.  Back on topic, my fans arrived today. I put them in, wrong, then took them out and flipped them over. I put one of my die-cast Bigfoots climbing one of them.

I'll do some searches for RGB plugs, and see what I come up with. I didn't want to ask about cases, Windows updates, and Framepack all in the same thread. I have enough trouble following instructions on stuff that I barely understand, and didn't want to keep asking which problem some answer addresses.

I was away for a bit over a week, and when I got back and turned my PC on, it says that updates failed and I should reinstall Windows.  I hit the Retry a couple times, but it always fails. If I hit Reinstall Now, will that do the repair type, or a full/clean install? |

I'd try clearing your Windows Update cache: To clear the Windows update cache, stop the Windows Update and related services, delete the contents of the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, and then restart the services and your computer. |

When I turned my PC on a while ago, the prompts had changed again. It was just showing the update, which I then tried twice, and it failed both times. I clicked around through the update settings, and eventually got back to the option to do the repair install deal. It said it would keep all of my apps/settings/etc., so I went for it. It took a while, installing some security thing first and then installing the update, but now it says that I'm up to date. So far, everything seems to be right. Thank you for your suggestions. |
