| So I am a highschool junior, who has a desire to learn a relatively obscure, yet potentially usefull language. Something that not a lot of people speak as a second language, yet wouldbe helpful in getting a job, or bugging out of the country (the hiding thread got me thinking). So any suggestoins on what and how? |
Start with English.

I took two semesters of Japanese in college. Had to take something since I took no foregin lanuage courses in high school. Tried Begining Spanish but that was a joke, everyone in that classroom had prior experience despite the fact that they weren't supposed to. The teacher walked in and said some spanish phrases to which the entire room responds. Beginers my ass! I was so behind in two weeks I dropped the course. Japanese, to my surprise was very interesting. Japense itself is made up of three languages: Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji (Chinese symbols). It certainly was challenging but worth the time and effort. And since it's extremely unlikely that anyone in the class will have prior exposure to Japanese, the instructor will move at more reasonable pace. |
Me too. I guess re-reading my post, it sounds pretty sarcastic. |
Yeah go with french. 2/3 of the english language is composed of french words. It'll be easy to learn, untill you start conjugating verbs that is![]() I speak french and english. The next language I learn(after i'm done with danish, is going to be either arabic or farsi. |
How different is french in Quebec, SE Asia, and France? |
