Where was the owner?

Why were the dogs in a canoe?

Cool vid, and awesome dogs-

But I'm getting a little too jaded to believe anything anymore, after watching the water, current in relationship, getting stuck, unstuck, etc..

Sorry-

Neat, but I bet it was set up.  They noticed the dog would jump in and grab the rope, so they set the situation up.

I believe the  posters above me.
For a high end canoe to be left alone with two dogs in it well trained enough to be in a canoe with low initial stability/high secondary stability (I'm very familiar with that model canoe) and not tip is a little hard to believe. My dog is trained to ride in such a canoe.
Add that to the strong current and the canoe moving and stopping while in current and an obviously well trained dog to swim and grab the rope and I see this as totally set up.

I have to throw the BS flag up on this one

If anything, more like dog saves expensive canoe. Damn dogs inside the canoe can swim just as good as the 'savior' lab.
