I have a 17 Dell LCD monitor for the computer.  It flickers out completely black every so often. Is this normal?  Any ideas? Other then its a Dell.  I really dont want to spend 5 hours talking to a guy from New Delhi named Kevin.

Check for loose cables? Is the monitor placed near a motorize device that can cause EMI? Video card going bad?

Nope shouldn't flicker anything. Sounds like your back light might be failing. Check to see if your cables are tight and then get your checkbook out.

how much did you pay for it? the cheaper LCDs can be really shitty(no offence)

you might as well go with a CRT, they are bigger but if you have the space then the performance are a lot better

Its a nice one.  Its got hookups for cable and everything.  Came with a remote.  The picture is awesome.  It just flickers now and then.  I am starting to think its the vid card.
