I generally drink Vodka if I am going to drink anything.  For the price I like Tito's and Smirnoff and a few others.  I remember lots of people said they liked Ketel One here.  I always buy the biggest bottle.  So I made a scewdriver last night.  I make them pretty strong but since I hadn't had Ketel One I used less just to try it.

Talk about some nasty shit.  Maybe I got a bad batch but it was like instant bite with a horrible bitter taste.  Like I was drinking acetone or something.  I used way less than usual.  I took a few swigs then I dumped that shit down the drain.  Looks like I have some new fire starting fluid..

I'm with you.  Drink primarily Vodka, with some good scotch on occasion.

Ketel isn't my cup of tea, nor are the other fru-fru vodka's.

I go for Stoli when I'm out, since most places carry it and I like it.

But if you can find it, give Luksusowa a try.  It's a really great Polish Potato Vodka.  Great quality, but it's not marketed as a super premium vodka in the States, so the price is just right.  I had a Polish bartender at the Russian Tea Room in DC introduce me to it.  She asked what my favorite Vodka's were, and said try this, and then told me it was their well vodka, and I was floored.  I drink it on the rocks with a lemon or lime, and it's delicious.

TITO's  very good.

SKYY also  damn good.

Moon Mountain  is really nice.

The three above are all very clean,  very smooth and  drinkable,  and all available  in the 15 to 22 dollar range, which is easy to stock up.

.

If you have   a taste for something fancy, try CIRAC, which is distilled from grapes.

very faint remnant of  fruit, but NOT brandy.

I have never had Ketel taste like that, sure it wasn't your OJ?

There was something about Ketel One I didn't like as well the few times I gave it a try.  It was like a punch in the gut or something.

Surprisingly, there ain't nothing wrong with good old --

Likewise, I enjoy Luksusowa as well.  A polish guy who could break open combination Master Locks with his bare hands recommended it to me many years ago.

I have yet to notice enough variation between vodkas to warrant the price of top shelf brands.  This is my favorite bottom shelf vodka so far.

Vodka is vodka.  Just buy the brand one or two steps above the cheapest shit they have.

I drink too much vodka to spend money on kettle one or gray goose. I just stick to the $13 1.75 of McCormick.

I was going to recommend Luksusowa as well.  Wound up far from home in a boozery that didn't have any of my usual brands.  Picked that up and was very happily surprised both with the price and the quality.  I keep a handle of tito's at the house though.
