Anyone ever try it?
I've recently been introduced to this wonderful beverage, and I LIKE it. I know it is sacrilege around here, but I don't really care for alcohol, and I don't live in CO, OR, or CA Anyone else ever try Kava? What is your opinion on this Polynesian "Drink of Peace" ? |

I drank it in Fiji. The aussies already had me so drunk it could have been horse piss and I wouldn't have known it. I think it made my tongue numb. Funny, I had the same experience in Fiji. Maybe I was too drunk to notice any other affects, but it certainly numbed my mouth and tongue. |

It is most certainly NOT tasty, but the taste is not as unpleasant as I was anticipating after doing a bit of reading on it.
It simply tastes like a stick. The drink made with Kava root looks like muddy water. After drinking, you get a bit of numbness in your mouth ( similar to what a spray of Cloriseptic feels like ) but with an almost instant relaxing. Pharmacology it binds with the same receptors in the brain as Xanax, Valium, and Ativan. It also works as a muscle relaxer and sleep aid. The effect is subtitle, but for sure present :) So far the only down side I've seen is that my local "Kava Bar" is a big time Liberal Hippy hangout. but after a shell of Kava, I feel pretty chill myself so I don't mind the patchouli smelling girlies milling around Were it legal, I would chose another herb to relax after a stressful day at work, but being as it is, Kava will do the job. |

It taste like crap. A cross between pulpwood slurry and dirt. With some pepper added. It numbs the tongue fast, but I really didn't feel much else. As far as everyone talking about it being intoxicating, I don't get it. Other then the weird tongue numbness there wasn't any noticeable effect. |

Yogi Tea company makes a Kava tea that tastes like cinnamon. None of that nasty, root garbage that the fijians drink |
