Does any one here (GD with its vast knowledge) know if KTM is making an RC690?

The RC390 is cool but maybe a little to small for me.

If they follow suit and do what the did with the 390cc motor. They will take the 690 DUKE engine and put it in a race bike.

Lots of flickability on a single cylinder, and a little more power.

I don't really follow the pavement side of things but I don't see them doing it as they already have RC8.

The RC8 (according to KTMs CEO) is going out....its "too fast" for the street

I've got a tricked out RC390.....just put metzeler M7 RR tires on it yesterday, holy shit thing thing is awesome. Full exhaust, intake, and power commander fuel/ignition. soooo much fun

If they made an RC690 that would be awesome, but I don't see it happening. I'm 215lbs and 5'10''. The RC8 is a small bike, but holy crap is it fun to flick around.

This winter I plan on doing a 320mm front floating rotor upgrade...and maybe a rear shock (the rear shock on it sucks for us fat guys)

I was told at the dealer the RC8 is getting re-tooled.
Fast, yes. Competitive with the others, no.

As far as a RC690 coming here. Europe has had one for a couple of years.

I'm surprised nobody makes a big bore kit for the 390, but I don't know of one.

You could go cheap and get a drz400 and a big bore kit.

It would be very cool, but probably would not sell very well.

Especially if they make it in India.

You know you could always check KTM's web site and see what the fuck they offer in the USA.

The only RC model being offered in the USA is the 390.

The closest thing that KTM makes to the an RC 690 is a Supermoto 690 SMCR, not for the USA.

Husqvarna is offering a 701 Supermoto in the USA.

KTM no longer makes the RC8

Husqvarna is not owned by KTM.

Husqvarna is owned 100% by Pierer Industrie AG (which is owned by Stefan Pierer).

KTM is owned by Cross Industries (which is owned by owned by Stefan Pierer) (51%) and by Bajaj Auto (India) (47%).

That's the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701.
There is also a Vitpilen 701
Their Swedish names translate to Black Arrow and White Arrow respectively.

They were supposed to have been released this year.

Big singles are fun but when you make them into sportbikes you end up with something that not too many appreciate.

I have a Yamaha 660 powered MZ Skorpion with a tuned 720cc motor that makes mid-70s for horsepower, depending upon fuel. It's a ton of fun but you don't really want to compare it to other sportbikes, except maybe SVs. It's LOUD,vibrates a bunch, isn't particularly fast, even with TZ250 wheels etc it's not especially light.DID I MENTION THAT IT IS LOUD?

I had a 2008 690 enduro that was great.  The new 690 motor in the Duke has more power, rev 1000 rpm higher and has a counterbalancer which really smooths it out at high revs.

If KTM puts the new motor in a RC style bike I would consider selling my 990SMT. I think it would be a blast.

BTW, the Husky 701 is sweet but for 2016 they used the older KTM 690.
