It’s 5:00 PM in Ireland. Do you feel lucky? You should if you found this thread. It’s time for signups for Cola Warrior Keystone to begin! Expect harsh penalties if you fail to read the information below: June 16-18th, 2022 Geissele’s private range in Tremont, PA Closest airports and approximate travel time: Harrisburg (MDT) – 45 minutes Lehigh Valley (ABE) – 1 hr 15 min Philadelphia (PHL) – 2 hours Baltimore (BWI) – 2 hr 15 min JFK/EWR – 2 ½ - 3 hours First and foremost, this is a family friendly event. You know what that means, and err on the side of caution if you have any doubt. Secondly, insurance companies get nervous when guns and/or alcohol are mentioned. With that in mind, absolutely no handling of firearms after drinking. Violating this rule will result in a ban and could jeopardize future events. We’re also following Northwest’s lead of no open consumption of alcohol during event hours.Geissele (my employer) is going to supply porta johns and trash collection, which eases event overhead. This, among other planned things Staff: you know who you are, and I love you all! ![]() COURSE RULES: Obstacles: must be attempted for at least 10 seconds each, with a 10 minute time limit total. Plan to transport mags, sodas and any gear through obstacles. Peep, AK & run: standard rules, but expect to transport your unloaded weapons to the range. Range: Bill wants this event to be more about shooting than puking . Towards that end, I’ve developed a challenging course of fire with a lot of targets and some movement. Unsafe gun handling will result in penalties and/or disqualification. 2 rifle mags, unlimited capacity. 2 pistol mags, unlimited capacity. 10 minute time limit. Practice your marksmanship and the things you love to hate! Chug: Standard rules/penalties with a 10 minute time limit A note on night runs: This course is going to be brutal and I would advise against signing up for a night run unless you’re quite proficient with your gear and you like lots of penalties. Like most events, there will be a 5 minute penalty for white light ND’s or 10 minutes for prolonged use. Further, in light of recent global events, competitors will receive a 10 minute penalty for using IR illumination when not actively seeking and engaging targets. Last, but not least, you MUST sign up using this Google forms link: LINKY Slots will be allocated as follows: 10 CW Keystone staff 10 CW Keystone sponsor 10 staff from other events 10 privilege (top overall, woman, night or combat) 10 noob – you must have a Cola Vet that’s willing to vouch for you. Reach out if you have any questions. 25 Cola Vets 75 TOTAL + 15 standby I’m sure I’m missing a lot of things, so this and the following post(s) will be updated frequently with relevant information. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone! Updates as of 4/12: First, "spectators" will be allowed. We ask that you fill out the food form when it launches in a couple of weeks, and I'd recommend being prepared to run, although I believe that we're going to have our hands full with the lists as they stand. Event coordinates will only be sent to those on the run & food lists! Second, dirt bikes, quads, and side-by-sides will be permitted. I'm told that there are a lot of trails in the area, but please do your research first and be considerate of event staff and Bill's property. We will have a zero-tolerance policy for drinking and stupidity behind the wheel, though, so choose wisely. Third, and possibly most importantly, event donations can be sent to [email protected] If PayPal prompts you to tell them who you're sending money to, use my name (Dale Mellinger) and location (PA/USA) 6/2 UPDATE! Thanks to John Stoner for making swag a reality for the event! First, I want to say thanks to @Hill_monkey, @November5, @loco_engineer, @TwinFrost, @BRODOZER, @WhiskersTheCat, and @johnstoner for coming out this weekend to help set up the course, offer support and advice. I may have misjudged the difficulty of what I had planned for this event, but I'm a benevolent host and we made some changes to make the course a bit easier. The biggest change is that sodas and mags no longer need to be carried through the obstacles. The runner will stage them at the peep and AK station before starting the course. Runners will start at the bottom of the big black tubes, and time starts once the runner touches the ball. The competitor will crawl though one of the two lower tubes while moving the 20lb ball with them. Upon exiting the tube, the runner will return the ball to the painted circle where it started. The second obstacle is a handstand walk against a 20' plywood wall. Your foot must touch the green start and end 2x4's to complete the obstacle. Next is a chain in a 4' x 4' box. Drag the chain around the outside of the car port returning it to the starting location. All portions of the chain must be inside the box for successful obstacle completion. Proceed to the 4th challenge, which is a peep cutout suspended approximately 11' off the ground. Take either the 25 or 40 lb ball, and heave it through the opening 6 or 3 times (respectively). Runners must stay behind the horizontal brace on the ground and can not use it as a step. The ball can only be thrown from the side of the obstacle facing the range, and again, the ball must be returned to its starting position for obstacle completion. If you decide to change balls, you must still complete the required number of repetitions for that ball. No earned credit for work you completed with the other ball. NOTE: Please don't try to catch the falling ball - there's a good chance you will get hurt. I don't mind inflicting some emotional scars, but I'd like to avoid physical harm. ![]() The 5th obstacle is a balance beam. The shooter needs to move from the starting to ending blocks using the two laminated 2x4 beams. Basically you place a beam, cross it, set the next 2x, pick up the previous one and repeat as needed to reach the end. Incidental ground contact (read a bounce) with the board will be allowed, but prolonged contact will require restarting the obstacle. Once you have reached the other side, return the beams to the box they started in. Notice a theme here? You are required to reset the obstacle to get credit for completing the obstacle. Competitors who put solid effort into completing an obstacle but ultimately fail will not have to reset the obstacle, but you will be asked to reset the obstacle if it appears that you're putting in 10, 15, 20 or maybe a few more seconds of effort into it before moving on. We will endeavor to enforce a 5 minute individual and a 15 minute overall time limit on obstacles in order to keep things moving. The peep and AK station doesn't really require much explanation since it's the same as any other event. Once you've eaten the peeps, field stripped and reassembled the AK, begin your run by heading to the pump cage to fetch a pack of peeps for the next victim . . .um. . . victorious person. Place the peeps in the cup holder of the chair then retrieve your sodas, mags, rifle and pistol from the staging area. You'll proceed towards the range following the cut path up the hill, then out to the road and down towards the parking area. Follow the mowed path along the tree line to reach the trailblazer that you passed earlier in your run. There is going to be a 15 minute time limit on the range, which starts when you fire your first round. Stage your rifle in the back seat of the vehicle, climb into the drivers seat, load your pistol, and proceed to clear the plate rack and mini mo. Drop your mag, and fire the remaining shot at the red high value target. A miss results in a 5 minute penalty, so make sure you aim carefully! Exit the vehicle while maintaining muzzle awareness, and proceed to the blue box at the back of the vehicle. Shoot the blue targets and poppers before dropping your magazine and firing the remaining round at the same HVT. If you shoot the vehicle, you will be asked to unload and show clear before proceeding to the rifle stage. You will receive penalties for all remaining pistol targets, plus an additional 10 minute penalty. Please don't shoot our props! Place your pistol on the table, retrieve your rifle and head to the short range rifle stage. Here you will find a barricade with three yellow reduced size IPSC targets. Using a standing unsupported position, hit each of the targets once from both your dominant and non-dominant sides from both sides of the barricade while staying inside the yellow shooting box. You may exit the box and choose any position to engage 2 diamond shaped targets with 2 hits apiece, then pick up the teal-ish target and put two hits on a similarly colored target in front of you from a standing unsupported position. After that, drop your mag and engage the red rifle HVT from any position with the remaining round. Move to the second rifle stage where you will chose a position on the rocks and engage targets at approximately 350, 400, 450, 485, 575, 640 and 700 yards with one impact each. These targets are marked with some purple paint to help make them distinctive. Again, drop your mag and utilize the remaining round to (hopefully) neutralize the HVT. Place your rifle on the table and move to the area behind the bench to begin your chug. In a similar vein to above, any rounds that impact the rocks, concrete blocks or barricade will result in penalties and being asked to unload and show clear before heading to the chug. Targets within a shooting area can be engaged in any order, and if you're keeping track, you've already figured out that the range requires 14 pistol and 21 rifle impacts. Chug follows standard Cola Warrior rules and has a 10 minute time limit. It doesn't sound that bad, does it? We've got a full event and times (both raw and total) are looking substantial, so we will starting the next runner as soon as range time begins for the previous person. Runners will want their ears, possibly even at the obstacles. There's going to be a lot going on and safety is paramount - use common sense and remember to be mindful of the 4 rules at all times. It's late and I'm worn out - there's probably a few typos and missing details. I'll try to answer questions and fill in more information tomorrow. |

I saw a bunch of people wearing green and being jolly like they are already drunk. This was before noon even. Also made me think "why are leftists ok with culturaly appropriating the Irish? They were slaves in this country too. Being 1/3 Irish, this offends me. "
