OK, folks.  Tell your demon story if you have one.  (I'm talking people that believe they have encountered real demons.)

Edited to add my old demon story from the archives:

Almost 10 years ago I encountered a case of true possession.

I was a teacher at the time and worked in a program that was designed to allow student that were not able to attend class to get credit for attending school. It was called a "homebound" program. I had many students with various diseases as well as students that could not go to school because of violent behavior problems or criminal status.

One of my students was a 6 year old female that was prevented from attending school because of violent episodes. During these episodes, she would babble, scream, and exhibit the strength of a strong adult male. It would require a number of ADULT teachers and aides to subdue her. She was able to throw a regular size student desk across the room.

She had an entire battery of doctors that worked with her to no effect at all. She had a very bad family environment at all levels. It should be noted that her family was involved in a voodoo cult.

Until meeting with her a number of times, I had assumed that she had severe psychological problems. However, after a number of meetings, I began to think that she might be possessed. I also realized that she could read minds during her "possessions"! I decided to test my theory. So the next time that I went to her home, I was sitting behind her and THOUGHT to myself the following: "If you are really possessed, then get up from your chair and go pick up the shoes in the corner." That that moment, she turned in her chair and stood up. She walked to the corner and picked up the shoes and then turned to me and smiled. She set the shoes back down and walked back to her chair and went back to work.

I had a coworker that came to the same conclusions due to similar experiences. She terrorized and attacked everyone that worked with her except me and the one other coworker that came to the same conclusion as me. She feared the two of us greatly and would writhe in pain sometimes just from being in our presence. The rest of the time, she would cower. I could get her to work only if she did not have to look at me.

Many years ago I worked with a woman who was a former hippie.  A hippie, as in she was at Woodstock and all.  I never caught her in a lie, however, I took the following stories with a grain of salt.  She said that she was really into the Ouija board when she was a youngster.  She claimed that she was so "in tuned" to the board that she and her friends could take their hands off the pointer and it would move by itself.  She also said at one time the pointer jump off the table and chased her across the room.  She also did a lot of acid, so I think just maybe, that could explain some of it.

Well me being the skeptic, and the smart ass, I stated my belief that it was the better quality of drugs from the sixties that was to blame. To combat my disbelief she claimed that she could make a quick Ouija board by drawing one on the desk and making a quick pointer out of a piece of plastic and a paper clip, real Macgyver style. She then proceeded with a demonstration.  I can say, that what I saw did kind of surprise me!

Several of us were asking questions, while she and someone else were touching the pointer.  Well this was not too convincing.  Then another person came into the room and wanted to ask "it" a question.  She could not think of a good one, so I came up with the question. It was " When is Sue's husband's birthday?"  Sue being the new person who just came into the room.  Now nobody knew the answer to this, except Sue. The pointer slid across the desk at a fast speed, with the two people still touching it, and started circling a heart drawn on the other side of the desk.  The hippie asked "Valentines day"?  The pointer flew back to "yes".  We looked up at Sue to see if it was correct.  Sue turned pale white and ran out of the room.  It was a 1 in 365 chance.  "It" got it right.

Having been raised Native American.....yet also being a Christian Minister in my younger years I could share plenty of stories which would make the skeptical scratch their  heads. I have been many places and operated in many countries where I have seen things that let you know, you are not alone...and evil definitely exists. But these are my interpretations. And I do not want to breech demon-minister confidentiality.

Unfortunately I have seen a large number (not saying that is what your experiences were) of modern "exorcisms" in churches that were nothing more than a religious reenactment of sorts. We have way too many churches which use demons as an excuse, instead of just admitting sin. I worked (as producer, and on-air personality) for the International Broadcasting Network when I was a young ordained minister. Unfortunately I saw a lot of pony shows (no disrespect meant) which would publicly show an exorcism (Bob XXXXX). Bob means well, and is a good man, but I do not believe that it is demonic forces that cause sin, it is individual choice that causes sin. We are accountable for our own actions not demons. And Walt Disney was not a satanist, sorry Bob!

On the opposite end of the spectrum, was Robby XXXX. Robby had acted as an advisor to the FBI regarding all subjects occult. He is the real deal, and it was a genuine honor to meet him and rub shoulders. He has an outreach ministry to help convert satanist (Such as but not limited to Anton followers) as well as witches practicing in the black arts (not wickens, or pagans, but true to life witches) He was a very easily respected man with a genuine heart to help, and does not make a "show" out of what he does. If my child's head started spinning around and spewing guacamole, this is the man I would call.

I did not give full names of these men, even though they are in the media, I did not want to violate CoC.....but if you do a google search you can find them relatively easily, if not IM me.

I found that I was doing more of a "service for God" in the Military/PMC field....it is a calling, and is one that requires more faith, than I ever encountered in the ministry.

I was born in Rota, Spain at Naval Station Rota.

My parents like many purchased various religious statues like the Virgin Mary while in Spain and then brought them back to the USA.  After my Father left the Navy he moved us into a three bedroom ranch home out in the country, but among a road with other ranch homes built around the same time.  My Mother set the statues on a shelf in our living room and almost immediately they noticed that every single morning over and over the statues would be turned facing the wall.  Now, I was five years old and couldn't reach the shelf and was an only child at the time.

My Father's brother (my uncle) came to visit and stayed in the guest room.  In the middle of the night he gets up to use the master bathroom and as he steps out into the hallway he notices what he believed to be my Mother dressed in a white nightgown walking into my room. He brought it up the next morning and my Mother had not been into my room that night and didn't own a nightgown let alone a white one. My parents are very dismissive about such things and didn't think much of it or let it worry them.  Things got interesting though when my Dad's friend from the Navy and my Godfather a Master Chief Petty Officer reported seeing a ghost lady in my the hallway again walking into my room.

The only "paranormal" experiences I have ever had all involved ouija boards. As kids we messed with them a lot, to the point where I or someone else could stand in the room and think of a 5 or 6 digit number and the two people on the board would (very quickly) point it out correctly. I've tried more recently and couldn't get any results, but that shit did happen, and I can not explain it.

The following actually happened to me personally.

My girlfriend at the time was from a nearby town of Hamilton OH.  We were driving around it and she was pointing out all the houses she lived
in as a kid.  One house we parked in front of and she told me that was the house that Rodney lived in.  He was a ghost/spirit that her and her sister
had talked about before.  The house looked empty but the front door was locked so I pushed open the back door which was held closed from
the inside by a large console TV.  Now inside the house we walked around and she pointed to the closed door that led to the upstairs bedroom
that she shared with her sister.  We went into the front part of the house and while I was looking at something she opened the front door and stepped out on the porch.
The door then slammed shut and neither of us could open it.  She then got a really scared look on her face and said it was Rodney.  I walked back through
the house to the back door we came in and I noticed that the door to her bedroom was now open and I could see the stairs leading up to it.  I hurried through the back
door and just as I squeezed out of it, remember the console TV was in the way, it slammed shut so hard I was knocked down the two steps.
As we were driving away she apologized and said she knew she shouldn't have gone back in.

Well, Saturday, the wife and I were arguing over something stupid. We always try to read our bibles together at night before bed. Well we didn't read on Saturday as we were tired from entertaining family all weekend. We go to bed and it starts to storm out. We live in south Florida and we are very used to heavy storms and hurricanes. Houses normally shake. Well we try to fall asleep and I feel this evil dark presence and all of a sudden every hair on my head and neck stand on end after the door started shaking (no thunder). Something is definitely wrong. There are no funny shadows in my house but there was a black shadow in the up in the top corner above my door. We are in a quiet neighborhood and I've lived in the house for the better part of 14 years and my family built it.

I roll over and wake up my wife. At this point I am really pissed off. I've heard of evil spirits and even my wife has dealt with the before when she screwed around with Wicca back in her teens.

She said she felt the presence too. We both started praying and it left. The next day we talk to the pastor about it at church as well as another woman from our church. She had dealt with casting demons out of witchdoctors in Africa before so we wanted her input. So she, her friend, my parents, and my wife and I all got together and had a prayer service and a meeting to try to figure out ways to keep our house pure. I was told a story during this about a baby who was incredibly sick and its fever wouldn't break and they found newspapers about sick and dying babies under the crib that they were given. They threw it out and then the baby's fever broke.

I realized that I had brought something into our bedroom that might have brought it up. I took a law enforcement class on the occult. Lo and behold I had all kinds of Satanic rituals and rites sitting in the paperwork I had just placed in my nightstand. All kinds of nasty stuff. I had wanted to give it to my mother in law (not trying to be mean) so she could learn about the other belief systems. Well, we tossed it out. Prayed over the house and anointed it with oil just as in the Old Testament. Well, our house is now back to the peaceful house it was. We are at peace. God is faithful in his word. Demons will flee at the sound of his name.

My friend and coworker told me her experience with the paranormal, she said she was home alone one night laying in bed watching tv when she looked up at the door and into the hallway saw whom she thought was her sister. Her sister and her look similar but they are not twins by any means. She said she stood there in the hallway never facing her until she said her sisters name out loud that's when the girl in the hallway turned and snarled at her. She said it was her doppelganger, it looked exactly like her but its eyes were like a cats eyes and extremely sharp teeth. My friend jumped up, slammed the door and held it shut by sitting in front of it. She called her now ex husband who when arriving at the house had to use the keys to unlock the doors.

She recently moved into a cabin that she had built in her parents backyard. Its one of those refurbished portable buildings. After living in it for the first week or so she called me and told me she thinks the cabin is haunted, she mentioned on one of the walls there is a drop of dried blood. One night she was going to work and as she was getting in her car which is directly a few feet away from the front door, her dog which was outside began to pay attention and bark at one of the windows, my friend looked and said she saw a really tall dark figure standing there. She couldn't see facial features because it was taller than the window but it blocked out her kitchen lights and she could make out its arms.

Demon stories like those in this thread make me sleepy. I can tell some real life relationship stories that will curl your hair.

And now my nightmares will begin. Thanks.

Tell me about it. She invited me over to do a seance and house blessing with her. I told her to hang up a cross over the blood spot and demand that whatever is in her house to GTFO!  I questioned her why she wanted a seance and she wanted to determine if it was a good spirit or bad, but something tells me with her experiences she shouldn't dabble.

edit: She also told me about her research into dopplegangers and told me that everybody has one we just can't see them but usually a bad sign if we do.

When I was 10-12, my mom had read part of This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti.  She had just read the part where the main character was attacked by a huge group of demons, and it was a creepy scene.  I went to bed, perhaps a little creeped out, but not much.  Besides, I had read the story before.

Soon after getting into bed and long before I had actually begun to go to sleep (so no, it wasn't sleep paralysis or anything - I was fully awake and sitting up) I got a VERY strong sensation of the presence of dozens of beings that were not friendly. I could actually hear them, very faintly, but not with my ears. It almost seemed like I could see some movement, but I could definitely hear them. They were talking in a strange language that sounded like nothing I have ever heard in real life or movies. I couldn't understand it, but I knew that they were talking about me to one another, and making fun of me, perhaps talking about what they'd like to do to me.

It wasn't even scary.  A bit creepy perhaps - I had never experienced anything like it - but they seemed more like bullies that were all talk and no action rather than anything to be afraid of.  If they were trying to scare me they didn't do a good job.  Maybe they thought I'd be susceptible to fear after being somewhat creeped out by the story, who knows.   I prayed for them to leave, the feeling went away a little but there were still some there, I prayed a few more times and it all went away, and I went to sleep.

It was a long time ago, but I do believe that it was real.

From the Archives on 10/1/2007

Amen!

My 6th grade English teacher had a 1972 Demon...Red.  Had the 340 and a single four barrel, automatic transmission.  She had Cragar SS mags all the way around, but she drove it like an old lady.  It looked frightening, but it was basically tame.  I'd say it would have been lucky to break 15 seconds.

I love stories of people messing around where they shouldn't

I have my own stories to tell, but they stay between the wife, me, and those friends who were there during.

This is not a tag however

Those of us who believe in God must also believe in His evil counterpart.

The story that I am about to tell you is true.

I grew up with my father, step-mother and half-brother in Pennsylvania.

We were not a close family, and I did not have a happy childhood.  We were more like four people sharing a residence together really.  When I turned 18 I was all too happy to leave the “nest” and move 1200 miles away to the midwest.

For many years I had very little contact with them.  This changed in 1993 when my dad died.

I spent some time with my step-mother when I went back “home”.  She told me a rather spooky story about her experience with Satan.  She felt that she was being stalked by the devil and was terrified by an experience that she described as hell literally opening up at her feet, trying to suck her in.
Now, I have to tell you that my stepmother was not a nice woman.  She was the torment of my childhood and was very abusive.  One of her favorite things to tell us boys was, “Children are a punishment from God.”  She meant it.

She was physically abusive, too.  I bear the scars today to prove it.

My brother had another experience with evil.  He told me of a time when he felt the presence of demons in his home…calling out to him from his bedroom.  He was in the house alone at the time.  He felt that he was personally targeted by satan and when he told me about his experience he was white as a sheet.
Fast forward to 2002.  I was still living in the Midwest but from time to time I checked local news sources to see what was new back home.  I stumble across this article…

Death

…and this is how I found out they were both dead.

I am told but do not know for a fact that incest is a part of this story.

It seems to me that what they feared most actually came true.  This happened in a small community and rumors persist to this day.

dont get me wrong there are some genuinely evil people out there, but not possessed. maybe in their mind they think they are, so they act/live the part.

I now live in a late 1800's/early 1900s Funeral home...where human bones were found in the basement...
I have yet to see/hear/experience anything strange.

But growing up, I can remember waking up to this extremely weird noise like something "dark" speaking to me from the center of my basement. I cant explain exactly. but I do remember my dog guarding me and barking/growling at the center of the room.
I did what any other 9 year old would do...threw the covers over my head and closed my eyes...I fell back asleep.

Ive experienced other things when I was younger, not so much now.

the mind can play tricks on those tho want to believe what they think they see.
a curtain in just the right position can make it look like a person in in the window, same with shadows and light reflections. 50 bucks says if you had a pair of NODS, and a scope, and they took a closer look, nothing would be there. of course someone who believes that they saw something will just say it must have moved before they could get the scope/night vision up....

i fully believe in heaven&hell as well as  god& the devil. what i dont believe is that evil can posses someone to the point where that person has no self control.
does the devil tempt people? yes, every day. just as god offers hope to the very same people
it is up to the individual to choose who they wish to follow. they always have a choice.

until i see something first hand to prove that haunting or evil spirits have a tangible effect on what goes on in this world, i will not believe it.
and no BHO as the POTUS is not enough proof

My dog has done the same thing, only once, and she was staring at the spare bedroom with her fur up and growling.
i know exactly why though, it was a windy afternoon and she heard a noise up there that must not have agreed with her. after "dad" cleared the room and gave her a "wtf" look, she grabbed her jolly ball and proceeded to toss it around trying to entice me to play with her....

Be very careful playing with Ouija Boards and the such.  There is a reason the occult is restricted to those with experience and practice.  You might open up a door that you can't close and invite some nasty shit into your life.  Even the occult sides of religion like Kabbala, Gnosticism, etc. are reserved for the Adepts.  Spirituality is like a muscle, if it is untrained you can hurt yourself with the really "heavy weight."  Just a word to the wise.

ETA:  Negative impacts from dabbling are not limited to posession, poltergeists and the rest of the hollywood mumbo jumbo.  Playing around with unseen forces when you are not spiritually "equipped" to deal with them can lead to what some would call an extreme case of bad luck, or a series of unfortunate events. (insert lemmity snickett joke). sp?
