Sounds like it is working in a normal fashion.  

Try using Google.  Sometimes it will find what you need on the arfcom posts.

I tried searching for the Under Armour thread and got this when I searched "Under Armor":

The Following Errors Were FoundInvalid Keyword [ under ]. Keyword was identified as a 'noise word' and may not be used in a search.
Pulled "Under" out and just used "Armor" and it worked 

Under is a "noise word"?

Made me snort.  I usually just have it set to find post I've replied in, it's not giving me anything.

that only gave me threads I've started, but I'm GTG again, thanks for the help, don't know the issue or fix, but playing with it worked.

Did you have it set to "post replies" instead of "threads started by" in the box beside the author box?

ETA: yeah, ArfSearch is a PITA, but once you get the hang of it, it isn't too bad.
The older board search was better, though.
